Re: Horribly coached game.I don't understand just how negative so many are. This is a transistional year with a very undermanned and young team. Offense has made significant strides. Defense will need better players before big improvement is made. Football is not like basketball where just a couple of very talented players can have a huge impact. Patience will be key as the rest of the season plays out. Please try to be somewhat positive - the future is bright!!

Re: Horribly coached game.
We just lost to an FCS team, this is how boards react when FCS losses occur. They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

1. I agree everyone is overreacting and most of us with a clue predicted a tough game, 2. You old farts are the reason we are ranked similar to an FCS team by defending checked out JJ years too long. Thank rass roll. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: Horribly coached game.
I agree we have the right coach and if we can hold on to him 3 years it will be much different, but how many games do you think we will win this year? I am thinking 2, if we're lucky 3 wins. C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Horribly coached game.I'm just pissed that this D didn't seem to resemble the one from a week ago. We let a QB from an FCS rush for 276 yards! Did I think we were going to shut him down? Of course not, but I expected us to at least game plan for him.

Re: Horribly coached game.
Lack of energy from the team in the first half was shocking. "Truth" Sunday or whatever the coaches call it, shouldn't be a fun experience today. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Peruna is my mascot!
Horribly coached game.
You do realize he started at Georgia Tech, right? Do you believe he is an fcs caliber athlete? That team put up ridiculous numbers in their first 3 games. I bet they rise from their #8 fcs ranking and finish the season strong. The game was nothing more than a trap game for SMU. Just like Montana State a couple of years back. Took Gilbert's miraculous last drive to win by 1. Mighty JJ barely scraped by a fcs team...by 1 point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm well aware of his background. I'm also well aware that his previous rushing high was 105 yards against Morehead State. Derail the Frogs!
Re: Horribly coached game.
Exactly. Boykin didn't run for 200 last week. This type of offense exposed our LBs more than the other games did. MLB an Star are horrible. Shaq to safety, and play Williams and McNew at this point. Our starting MLB has 2 tackles in 4 games. They aren't being blocked out of plays, they aren't even involved.
Re: Horribly coached game. Our DE's are not very athletic and it showed. DE's got either pushed back a lot or sealed in on running plays with they ran off the tackles. OL got pushed as well as too many times they were in the backfield for running plays. Some of those sacks were not coverage sacks and they sacks did not come from Pursley's man. We do need to upgrade the secondary. The star looked more like the TCU rover covering receivers and they did a decent job. The star position in this game shouldn't even be mentioned with the LB's.

Re: Horribly coached game.
The guys in the past playing TCUs rover position get their name called non-stop. Shaq has been invisible for 4 games. Players who are at that position should be noticeable on the field. Who makes more plays, Shaq or 11? It absolutely needs to be called out with the LBs. The DEs did a poor job of playing contain on the zone read, they all bit on the handoff to the RB. But they didn't get pushed off the ball. They either made the tackle at the line or there was a hole and no LB and JMU had a 20 yard run. There wasn't much in between. Lawler FYI was credited with 9 tackles, which doesn't happen if you are being beat in your position battle. The number of tackles he has racked up this year is outstanding from a DLineman.
