This was an example of an O line taking over a game and winning it. Their front beat our front all night long.

Youth on our side was evident all over the place. Young DEs lost contain or came up the field a step too far too many times. They help create running lanes. They will learn to stop that. Worked great in HS but those days are gone.

They didn't have the receivers that BU and TCU had and thank goodness for that. Their receivers made our secondary look pretty weak many a time. If JMU had a better receivers, it would have been a 30 point blow out.

Experience will help with some of these issues but the key is for Morris and his staff to continue doing what they are already doing and that's recruiting.

Exactly. Watching warm ups, this was a game of men vs. boys. I'm not being a sunshine pumper, but realize that was a very good team, get behind the team, and move on.

This game was a kick in the nuts. Oh well.

I'll be happy simply when we're in a position to not give gatorade baths for wins over UNT.

I thought that was for Morris winning his first game as a CFB HC.

If Vad Lee doesn't make as many bad passes as he did they beat us by at least 14 points. We just need some time to rebuild.

I agree that they simply had better players. We can't blame CM for that at this point. I do have one huge concern and it is something Junior posted in another thread last night - there is absolutey no excuse for not having one of our LBs spotting their QB every play. That should have been one of our player's only job. The entire game their QB would get through the line and there wouldn't be a Mustang player within 5 yards of him. How does a college coaching staff not make that adjustment? That was baffling.

One more comment, 90% of SMU fans are freaking zombies. I've really never seen anything like that. Easily was the quietest home crowd I've ever witnessed at a football game, especially a game that exciting. The 500 JM fans were much louder than 18,000 SMU fans all game.

i dunno maybe they were, but seemed like a case of whoever had the ball last was going to win. We did enough to sneak out with a win which is sometimes what you have to do in games like that, until their final drive. You see alot of inconsistent performances week to week in college football (ie Virginia scares Notre Dame one week, scrapes by FCS William & Mary the next). We didn't play well last night, coming off a big effort at TCU that is not entirely surprising in hindsight. The offense put up points but couldn't get into a flow it didn't seem like. It looked to me like JMU found a few keys and their LBs were blowing up our stretch run plays by running without any hesitation to the spots. Not having Briggs 100% probably hurt there on the edge. And in the end, missing Zach Wood hurt the defense badly no doubt about it. We obviously can not afford key injuries and flat performances at this point but that's what we had last night.

Agreed. I'm just not worried about this. Nothing I saw last night says to me that this program isn't headed in the right direction. It will take time and recruiting. And let's not forget that we are not the first, nor the most prominent, FBS program that JMU has beaten on the road. They are a good team and Vad Lee is a legit FBS talent.
