Who's Going Tonight?Who's in charge of giving us a game recap tonight? I'm out.
Im heading out there tonight. I hope the team did nothing but shoot freethrows the last couple of days since the Toledo game. As cold as SMU was from the floor, they could have still been very close if they would have made most of the FTs. Getting to the line for 30 attempts and not even making half is just plain bad.
Also, I would like to see Tubbs press more and play full court ball before it gets to desperation time. The team really got some spark when we went to the all out press and almost got back in the game. Would like to see this earlier in the game. SMU is not a good shooting team, they need to drive to the basket and a frantic pace could help. I wish Tubbs would try the "40 minutes of Hell" like Arkansas used to do and lets see what happens. When we settle into our half court offense (If you can call dribbling around halfcourt until someone makes a turnover or launches a long shot an offense) we don't look very good. The team is very athletic, we need to take advantage of that. When we do get stopped on the quick drives, we need to feed the ball inside and live or die with that, and have the big men look to pass out for open jumpers every now and then. See everyone at the game.
watching the game on all-access, looks like the same 200 fans are back tonite for more exciting SMU basketball.
I'm sure those camera angles are deceiving, because SMU has announced the crowds for the 1st two games as more than 2000. Someone who actually went to the game will have to give an estimate on actual butts in seats. Meanwhile, not a bad 1st half but we should whip these guys as this is a physical mis-match. Pearson already has 10 boards at half and SMU is up 34-20. Bonehead play by Killen to end the half allowed LIU that last bucket. This team will have to avoid those kind of mistakes in CUSA play to have any chance of even a .500 season. Good to see Epps shooting well and Dez 1st half 3:1 assist:turnover ratio
well, so much for the physical mis-match. looks like a different LIU in this 2nd half. After a 17-6 run to open the 2nd half, this game looks very much in doubt.
You had the number about right, CP. At tipoff there were less than 100 people in the stands (yes, I was able to count them individually). More people trickled in during the first 5-10 minutes of the game, but in all honesty, I've seen bigger crowds at most of the volleyball games, and those are mostly the players famiies and friends.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.
On the upside, this was the best attended game so far....saw several people that were making their first appearance of the year at a BBall game. The downside.....it was still a really pitiful crowd.
Probably not much hope of it improving since I see this team struggling to make a .500 record this year. Only hope is that the newcomers like Epps and Williams continue to get better each game....Dez gets back to the form that made him a top recruit....and of course, the big key...Bhop arrives as the savior and as the shooting guard has a lights out season with an average around the 30 point range.
I'd say there were about 500 people there last night. Many arrived late and left early. Only about 50 students max. The attendance for the men's games has been clost to what we've had at the women's games.
with "announced" crowds of over 2000 for each of these 1st 3 home games, I gather we sold close to 1500 season tickets.
LONG LIVE THE 1500
