USC job is one of the top 5 in the country. Maybe the top one. Just wanted to reiterate that.

I'm a realist but I agree with others here that Patterson doesn't seem like a fit in any way at USC. He isn't a Hollywood type at all. Much better fit at Midwest or southeast school if he ever wanted to make a move.

Ed Orgeron is the ultimate Louisiana redneck and is beloved by many at USC

Good point. Its very strange to have 3 big jobs (Maryland maybe not so much) open up in the middle of a season.

I agree with this and with what gostangs posted but I have to admit I'm shocked how well Sonny Dykes has worked at Berkeley.

Just for kicks.....IF Chad got poached this offseason (highly unlikely IMO) who's on our shortlist? We'd have a pretty hefty buyout check to go shopping with for HC and assistants

Here's mine:

1. Dino Babers (31-15 as a HC at Eastern Illinois and Bowling Green, runs a similar up tempo offense, spent three years under Briles at Baylor as WR coach and recruiting coordinator)

2. Sonny Cumbie (Obvious Texas ties, and doing a hell of a job as OC/QB coach at TCU)

3. David Bailiff (Spent almost his entire coaching career in Texas, led Rice to their first 10-win season in over 60 years)

Rutgers maybe coming open again soon as well. They should just bring Schiano back

Some quality acquisitions made by the BIG...that conference has a bunch of dead weight.

Yikes, it would really suck for us to have to find a HC this year because there's no slam dunk like Morris out there.

On the bright side 2 of the 3 candidates you mentioned have TCU ties!

So that would leave us with only one option. 8)

I'd throw Florida and Florida State in there because of the recruiting base, resources, and tradition. OU and LSU as well to round out a top 10.
