Williams handled all the punting last night. Five punts, averaged 41.8 and that's with 3 inside the 20...with no return yards. Pretty good night for him and for special teams overall.

Was I the only one that saw the 10 yard or so punt that set Temple up at mid field early?

Koonce hasn't played since he gave up 82 punt return yards against USF. Its hard to find individual net cumulative punting statistics but Williams is kicking Koonce's [deleted] in net punting and kicks inside to 20. Net returns against Williams all year couldn't be more than about 2 yards per kick

Again, I could average 0 returns by just kicking straight out of bounds, which I saw 2 punts do last night.

You aren't the Punting coach either. Williams has clearly outperformed Koonce in the factors that matter

I will not argue that. I just do not think we are seeing the second coming of Morestead either. If you recall, the punting coach replaced Williams already once this year.

I'll concede Koonce kicks look pretty-but bottom line he's been a lousy punter with very poor net punting stats-which coaches look at. No coach is going to replace a punter with 41+ average, zero returns with 3 inside 20. They love that stat line-

41 yard average is good but not if it is 2 80 yarders, and 2 20 yarders. I just would like a little more consistency. (And don't check my math)

OK but your lucky I didn't by about 10 yards per kick. I thought bankers were good with numbers

As bad as they've been, we might have 3 true freshmen starters in the secondary next year....

Adam said something the other day to the effect of, "If NCAA rules allowed it, Eric Sutton could walk onto the field and start for SMU next week without even practicing".

I don't doubt fiori a second that Sutton is really talented, but that's a ridiculous statement. Looking forward to having a stud named Sutton on each side of the ball, though!

I was bored

1st kick - 37 yards, downed at 5
2nd kick - 37 yards, No Return
3rd kick - 30 yards (this is MRydel's metric kick), No Return
4th kick - 56 yards, downed at 8
5th kick - 49 yards, downed at 1

Average 41.8, NO Return Yards

Those 2nd and 3rd were shanks, not directional.

After the first shank, Williams warmed up harder than any punter I have ever seen in my life. Then he shanks again. Good come back in second half and most of the team made a special effort to congratulate him on the punt downed at the 1-yrd line.

I think his statement would be referred to as using a literary device called hyperbole.
