Re: Good Times On The HilltopHaving played and coached basketball, the thing that continues to surprise me with many college teams are the lack of fundamentals. Players not knowing when or how to bounce pass. Players not knowing how to block out on rebounds (you can't stop 100% of offensive rebounds due to clankers that bounce waayy out), but offensive rebounds should be minimal. No set plays to deal with a man to man defense, just clear outs and show time. No set plays to break a zone. Why did George Mason go to the Final Four? Because they had an upperclassman laden team that played as a team. They played sound fundamental basketball. Nic Moore is a great player, but Larry Brown has made him a special player who despite his size could very well make an NBA roster.
