Our security is totally fake.

The illusion of security is only for the attendees / passengers. It's called Security Theater.

SMU's security policy at games is a total joke and out of touch with actual attendance and capacity constraints. This isn't cowboy stadium where they have to pump 90,000 people through in 45 minutes.

At one random xyz tuesday night game this season, my girlfriends purse was about an inch too wide so they wouldn't let her in. The six security guards standing there staring at us weren't allowed to search it and allow entry. There was no one else in the security line.

My wife had a similar issue however if you complain, which it worked for us, then you can get in. I just think it's [deleted] that if you put your purse/bag in the clear bag then you are free to go in. I wish I could understand that rationale.

We complained too and the head of security came over and denied entry. It's a policy they don't apply uniformly. We get in and see purses that are clearly over the limit. It's the dumbest policy and doesn't make the venue any safer.

Probably smarter to do that than to tell my fiancé to bring a smaller purse. All that got me was a glare.

Speaking of things not allowed in....

Why are there Girl Scouts outside of our games prior to our games selling cookies that are not allowed to be brought into Moody?

Why are there girl scouts outside of our games at 11:15 pm (Gonzaga) selling cookies? Seriously parents?

One of the worst things about having a Highland Park/SMU wife is their purses. The purses are very expensive and will bankrupt you. It's so expensive to raise a Highland Park/SMU wife nowadays.

My last trip to Las Vegas included a $300 voucher for a purse. Took my wife to the designated retailers and found the $300 made a pretty good down payment.

Or, you could, I dunno, follow the rules and you would not have to waste your time complaining. It's not like anyone on this board didn't know.

Sure it's a stupid rule, but seriously, how much trouble is it to just follow the stupid rule, and let them play at security theatre? All complaining does is [deleted] up the line for the rest of us.

Well, that begs the question: which are you more likely to be successful at? (1) convincing your wife/spouse/significant other to change; or (2) convincing play-time security to change?

I know my answer.

If a purse is half a foot too wide yeah send it packing. When it's literally an inch too wide do they really need to treat her like ISIS? Yeah I bet a lot of illegal weapons rely on that extra inch right? Or people could treat others like gah damm humans.

The Girl Scout doing that clearly doesn't know the policy. I, however, know and live the policy, so for a few games my daughter sold cookies only after the games while people are on their way to the car -- but only on weekend games.

I've never carried a purse to games. Half the time I don't carry one at all. I put the few things I need in my pockets. I won't even bring a phone with me most of the time because I'm with other people who bring their phones.

We hid my wife's purse in the bushes. Seriously. The bushes by the volleyball court are very dense. Saved me a trip to the ole auto.
