From Rivals:
Oklahoma City (Okla.) Putnam City three-star athlete Bryan McCann was heading toward a season that would have put him as on the same level as one of the top four or five players in the state of Oklahoma.
However, a broken leg in the fourth game of the season ended that dream. But the injury didn't keep the colleges away and he made his college decision this evening.
"I committed to SMU tonight," McCann said. "I just talked to coach Eric Roark and coach Bennett. I told them I was ready to commit, and they were pretty pumped about it.
"I want to major in business, and they have one of the top five business schools in the world. They're also a program on the rise. I think I could be a big hit there."
McCann picked SMU over offers from Northwestern, SMU, Tulsa and several other schools. He would have had several high-level Big 12 offers, one college assistant, said if it wasn't for the injury.
"I'm back and working hard," McCann, who is 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, said. "I'm already running and going hard through re-hab."
McCann is a three-star athlete. He said SMU recruited him to play cornerback, receiver and to return kickoffs.
Welcome to SMU Bryan!!!!

Welcome to SMU! Hopefully the rehab is going well.
On another note, how can someone choose SMU "over offers from...SMU..." There's something fishy there. Bad newswriting. Maybe I'm just picky

to supplement the Rivals report-he is a 3 star recruit rated 5.5 with offers from Northwestern, Tulsa and with Stanford in hot pursuit. The deal with Standford is that they can't have a recruit visit until 1 month after the recruit completes an application packet(this is based on a Scout article). So he might not have gotten an official offer yet from Stanford but he made an unofficial to them, the Stanford coaches made two in home visits and he was scheduled to visit Stanford in mid-January after the 1 month period ended.

So he chose SMU over a Big 10 offer, a Pac-10 offer and an offer from the C-USA champs .... and if I'm not mistaken, all three teams went to bowls. Impressive!

To those that discount the value of a SMU (compared to UT or A&M - from another thread) education read what he says and take a look at who he had offers from.

Last I checked, we beat three bowl teams this year (UTEP, TCU, HOU)

This is awesome, he is a really good player, the gamebreaker that SMU needs. Great pickup SMU, this guy can help take the Mustangs to a bowl game as early as next year.

DE/LB/WR Anthony Sowe
I didn't see any thread below on Sowe. Could you provide some detail or point me to the thread? A search turned up nada - assuming I spelled everything correctly.
Glad to see some new names with good offers.
Thanks for your help.

I like how we went into Tulsa's backyard and stole a recruit from them this time. Good pickup if Northwestern and Stanford went that far to find him.
