Re: Proposed Big 12I see no way we get considered for anywhere but where we are, but the Big 10 has to come to Texas some day. Maybe we will be the last one standing by then.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Proposed Big 12@gregfenves
As we look at opportunities for Big 12 expansion, I support considering @UHouston for the conference. UH is a huge asset for Texas.
Re: Proposed Big 12I think he added an extra "et" in his last sentence.

Re: Proposed Big 12I'm glad I have one seat.
Re: Proposed Big 12Just listened to Billy's podcast. Not sure I'm drinking the kool-aid but.......
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: Proposed Big 12We'll get a meeting. What that means is likely little in the end, but our $$$ guys have pushed the red button.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Proposed Big 12We've proven we can get in a quality conference as recent as the last few years. I thought The Big East invite was impossible.
Unfortunately as soon as we join someone screams fire and everyone exits stage left. If and when The Impossible happens I will open my checkbook up again. $30 is $30

Re: Proposed Big 12Big 12 has dfw market, looking to add Houston.
Re: Proposed Big 12
Supports considering them. Not much of a commitment to actually supporting them
Re: Proposed Big 12
This. Our only real shot is the $$$ guys wanting this and willing to invest. We do have attractive qualities as mentioned in the DMN article this morning: http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college ... erence?f=r Our two biggest drawbacks (other than our horrible performance in football, both on the field and in the stands) are we do not deliver a new market and the other Texas schools are not fond of elevating another Texas school to P5 status. Other than that, we have a very strong case, probably one of the strongest. The two drawbacks are huge, however, and very tough to overcome. The only chance we have to move up the list is drop serious coin and offer major concessions. Paying a big entrance fee to the conference, agreeing to take less TV money for 10 years etc... speaks the language that the B12 power structure likes to hear. Of course, this will require the top of the top donors at SMU to open up the checkbook. This is the only feasible road I see to the B12. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: Proposed Big 12
The ROI for a move like that for the next 20 years would be worth it. But you really have to see big picture here and see how sports really are the front porch of a university.
Re: Proposed Big 12The way I see it the only shot we have is to literally buy our way in. Every team they court is going to say we'll take $10M for the first 5-10 years instead of $25. Our pitch would need to not only be centric around our own facility upgrades, but also essentially saying we'll pay $100M ($10M upfront to each existing school) just to buy in. Memphis could probably pull that off with Fedex money, we I think we may be the only other school even remotely being considered to be able to appeal to our donors for that kind of money.
That being said i don't see it happening
Re: Proposed Big 12I'm not sure that would be a smart investment...
