5 year contract renewable each year?

That is the type of contract that he was working under. I see why he decided to leave. I wish LB the best.

he would have been 82 after a 5 year contract ended. SMU made a fair offer. Larry Brown being Larry Brown

He was not talking about the offer. He was talking about the contract that he was working i under at the time.

They needed a way to get out if he had violations or if he didn't graduate players. The contract made sense for both parties, and allowed Larry the freedom to leave when he wanted to without creating too much prolonged drama.
