Re: Randy Edsall back to UConnProbably a good hire. Petrino's return to Louisville is working and I expect Edsall will be successful. We should have them on our schedule the next 2 seasons so should be interesting to see how quickly he can make them competitive again.
Re: Randy Edsall back to UConnLet's see if he can still recruit Florida when UCONN isn't a BCS conference school any more

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Randy Edsall back to UConn
We didn't recruit FL then. Edsall got players with no other BCS offers and turned them into draft picks. He had 5 guys drafted one year & 3 guys a couple of times. If he gets us back to where we were beating ND in South Bend, South Carolina in SEC country, UofL multiple times, sweeping RG3 & Briles in 2 games, whipping winning the conference every 3 or so years, I'll be happy.
Re: Randy Edsall back to UConn
When Edsall was in charge, Uconn could recruit on relatively Even terms with Syracuse, BC, Rutgers and Maryland for players in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Now, Uconn gets their scraps. Diaco was a solid coach, but he couldn't overcome a lack of talent - particularly on offense. Edsall is a decent coach, but do you seriously expect him to build an offense that is competitive in the AAC! Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: Randy Edsall back to UConnI thought he was dumb to leave for Maryland, I don't care if it IS a better job.
Re: Randy Edsall back to UConn
He built an offense that ran all over Briles and Baylor two years in a row. Ran over South Carolina. Notre Dame. South Florida. He did it with offensive lines that were mostly guys were no other offers. The recruiting services don't really work in the Northeast. For example, Edsall was the only guy to offer Byron Jones and I specifically remember that the local recruiting "guru" said that Jones might not be athletic enough to compete in the BE. Here's Edsall's 2008 class http://www.espn.com/college-sports/foot ... class/2008 5 guys got drafted - 4 of which did not even get rated. Wreh WIlson, Williams, Todman, Sio Moore Dwayne Gratz. When we played OK in the Fiesta Bowl, UConn had the most NFL players on the field and if you switched QB (HUGE IF) UConn would have clearly had the better team. WACO, Texas -- Andre Dixon ran for 149 yards and three touchdowns and Jordan Todman ran for 103 yards, sending Connecticut home from its longest road trip in school history with a 30-22 victory over Baylor on Saturday. With Dixon and Todman each going over 100 yards for the second time this season, quarterback Cody Endres had an easier time filling in for injured starter Zach Frazer. He was 12 of 23 for 147 yards with no turnovers. Baylor's defense was hardly able to stop a running attack it knew was coming, and the offense wouldn't gain another 72 yards until late in the fourth quarter, after the Huskies were up 30-14. Robert Griffin led an eight-play, 78-yard drive and a 2-point conversion that got the Bears within eight with 3:06 left. They tried an onside kick, but Dixon snatched it. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Connecticut Huskies made a statement in the Southeastern Conference's backyard, while Steve Spurrier and South Carolina left embarrassed by what the coach described as a "sad, sad effort." Andre Dixon rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown and resilient Connecticut ended a trying season with a 20-7 victory over the Gamecocks in the Papajohns.com Bowl on Saturday. SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After a string of stinging losses, the Connecticut Huskies finally won one for their slain teammate. Jordan Todman ran for 130 yards on 26 carries, including a 43-yard TD run for UConn. He also added a 96-yard kickoff return for a TD. Dixon rushed for 114 yards on 20 carries. EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut's Jordan Todman ran for 175 yards and three touchdowns and the Huskies moved a step closer to a BCS bowl berth Saturday with a 38-17 win over Cincinnati. UConn defensive lineman Kendall Reyes had a key interception deep in Huskies territory just before halftime, setting up a 1-yard Todman touchdown run that made it 24-10 UConn. EAST HARTFORD, Conn. -- Donald Brown ran for 206 yards and three scores and Connecticut had touchdowns on its first four drives in a 45-10 victory over Virginia on Saturday night. Brown, who carried the ball just 20 times, came into the game as the nation's second-leading rusher, averaging 180 yards. He had 112 yards and two touchdowns at halftime and didn't play in the fourth quarter.
Re: Randy Edsall back to UConnHe is familiar with the faces, the facilities, and the format.
UCONN's version of Bobby Petrino...without the motorcycle. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Randy Edsall back to UConn
I work in a building full of Uconn fans. They aren't impressed by the hire and neither am I. Petrino moved up to a bigger job, thrived in the SEC, and only list his job because he was banging a VB player. There was no evidence he couldn't coach. Edsall' best record at MD was 7-6 and he lost 2/3 of his games in the B10. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
