This would be the equivalent to signing for own death warrant.
And if they expand the playoffs in a way that excludes the G 4 (AAC is in its own slot) then it would open them up for a lawsuit they would lose.

Re: Group of 5 Playoff? You guys love talking about lawsuits but we just take what's handed to us 100% of the time. Lawsuit is not in our sport vocabulary.
Re: Group of 5 Playoff?Completely OT, but didn't want to start a thread. Does SMU still play Michigan in 2 years?
Re: Group of 5 Playoff?
As of now, yes. http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/aac/smu-mustangs.php 2018 09/01 - at North Texas 09/15 - at Michigan 09/22 - Houston Baptist 09/29 - TCU Shake It Off Moody
Re: Group of 5 Playoff? As much as I would love for a G5 team get an auto bid, I know it's not a possibility unless demand for Cinderella teams from the public start to become known (bored of watching the same 4 conferences). To this post, absolutely no to G5 tournament. Veto veto veto!

Re: Group of 5 Playoff?Horrible idea. Let the Group of 4 do it.
The AAC should focus on getting it's own deal with one of the NY6 bowls, such that the AAC champ automatically qualifies for the Fiesta, Cotton or Peach as long as they are not in the playoff rotation.
Re: Group of 5 Playoff?
That sounds like a nice idea, but which of those bowls want to tie themselves to the AAC? What does the AAC bring to the table that would compel one of those bowls to sign a deal?
Re: Group of 5 Playoff?
This. Need a 8 game playoff with a G5 type championship game for any not invited to the other 6 team playoff. That's what I think. So top G5 team (or even 2 given how the years go) would get into the 'regular' playoffs and then a sort of 'play in game' for next best teams not invited into the 6 game playoff.
