Six players

Post by CalallenStang »

Are we all sure McDowell will be back? Didn't play much this year, and he's been recruited-over. Love his effort and hope he stays but that's the typical profile of a transfer.

With a year in the system in his pocket I hope he stays.

He also got dropped from the rotation when we decided to play without a point. He should be more in the mix next year when we have a more traditional rotation.

I really think McDowell could have a great place here in year 3 and 4, if he sticks around. Who knows though; I'm no insider and terrible at predicting roster movement.

I will say what I have heard, I would be surprised if McDowell was not back (for next season). He likes SMU and he gets along well with all of the guys on the team. He knows he needs to get alot better. I don't see him transferring yet, he might after next season if he gets buried on the bench. I agree with Section F he might be contributor down the line.

If you look at the rate of improvement year over year on Manuel, Moore and Brown you've got a very good junior/senior. I know we are stacked with Shake, Gu, Whitt, McMurray, Douglas and Landrum but the last 4 have yet to play one minute as a Mustang. Attrition, injury, (Australians).... who knows? I rather have him.

Not a bad option for a graduate transfer.

We need a big. We have a million guards, no bigs and one ride.

Yeah we already took our Guard in McMurray and he is a good one. We need a big. Period. The only grad-transfer big i've seen so far that averages over 2PPG is the 6'6-6'7 guy Khris Lane form Longwood who has great numbers, but is Semi like Big. Would rather get a true big guy. Still hope Dwight Coleby transfers.

It doesn't matter if Tyler Davis is happy, he is still not a grad Transfer so wouldn't be any help to us next year. I would imagine if Semi does come back, any big grad transfer would like to join us and start alongside him.

For any post guy - we have to be the most attractive "plug in a big" option in the country.

So depending on whether we land a graduate transfer or not our most up to date roster management should be as follows:

17/18 (10-11 scholarships)
FR Landrum, Ray, Chargois, Douglas, Mike
SO Whitt
JR Foster, Milton, McMurray
SR Emelogu, (possible graduate transfer)

18/19 (11-12 scholarships)
FR anywhere from 1-4 depending on how many we use in 17/18 and attrition
SO Landrum, Ray, Chargois, Douglas, Mike (probably lose one to attrition)
JR Whitt
SR Foster, McMurray, possibly Milton
