Josh McCown

Post by Grider »

So, Plummer has left for the Broncos. Does that make Josh the starter in Arizona, or do they bring someone else in?

God be with them if Josh is the starter.

Arizona's coach said he was "comfortable" with starting McCown if Plummer didnt return. However, free agency isnt over and the draft is coming up. Arizona will probably be in the market for another QB. Even if Josh does start, they need another backup. or two.

Word is they're going to bring in one veteran (Kordell Stewart? Brian Griese? Ray Lucas if he gets cut to make room for Kordell in Miami?) to compete for the job, and might draft a QB, too.

I hope they go with McCown.

Got to have a Mustang - even a wayward Pony who ended up his college career elsewhere - as a starting QB. Good luck to Josh

SHAQFU: Not sure what you meant by that statement. Josh didn't get an opportunity to 'show his stuff' at S.M.U. because head coach Mike Cavan didn't let him. Once Josh got to Sam Houston State University (my alma mater!), he set the world on fire for the Bearkats! Yeah, it's a Div. 1-AA school. So what? He broke every record in the Southland Conference during his one season there. There's rejoicing in Huntsville over the possibility of our HIGHEST EVER NFL RECRUIT being a 'starter' for a pro team! Of course, I get to celebrate on two levels: as a Mustang AND as a Bearkat!

QB Jeff Blake (Baltimore Ravens) has signed a three-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals. Blake should know he is doing some grooming of Josh and helping him. Josh is the future for the Cards now that Plummer is gone. The website is the formalities of the deal and news from nfl.com

Is it safe to assume they're not bringing Blake in to back up McCown?
Hope they get to compete. Good luck, Josh.
