Re: SMU Tulane thread
First one the QB was very slightly out of the box and so it was not grounding. The officials announced that. The second one was obviously grounding and the officials did not even discuss it. That could have ended the game right there.

Isn't slightly out of the box - out of the box. Isn't that like half pregnant?
Could not believe they missed the second one. Just shocking.

They showed a replay and drew a line from the tackle back and the QB was slightly outside. Before that I thought he was still inside. But on the second one he just took one or two steps straight back and flung the ball

Easy call. The ball never crossed the plane. Stop crying Tulane.

They demanded on Twitter that the AAC owes them a public apology. More like your coach and QB owes you an apology for gambling with a run with less than 10 seconds.

The ball is clearly on the turf behind the goal line. Where's the controversy? I don't get it.

It’s probably because the simpletons is Tulane thinks there’s a conspiracy with a cameraman on the 10 yard line that wouldn’t release his taping of the side of the field (East) that would have ruled a TD...no joke.

They are saying he scored and that shot is after he had already crossed the plane. But anyone that saw the play knows he went down and then rolled into the end zone. This shot shows he definitely was stopped short prior to rolling into the end zone.

You actually have to give the refs credit for making the correct call under pretty difficult conditions. FWIW, the pom squad who were standing right there on the east side couldn't tell from their angle but assumed it was a TD.

Every SMU fan for the last 30 years assumed it was a TD

We are now 6-1 in the last 7 years against Tulane. I understand that they would want to rob us of our clear victory but imho they should show more class in defeat. I'll be waitjng for your apology president of Tulane.

I rewound and rewatched at least 10 times and that was not a touchdown.
Highlights of the game: Courtland Sutton's one-handed catch; post-game hugfest; um, the win I guess.
Lowlights: Defense; decision not to go for two; defense.
And the turnovers from Ben and West.
Hey Genius-if SMU had gone for 2 and missed then Tulane kicks the winning FG for the victory. Learn some football-Chad Morris made the decision most every Coach would make with so much time on the clock-exactly for the reason that flew over your head. that extra point turned out to be the MOST VALUABLE point in the entire game smartass. You don't chase missed conversions until you have to
Wow, why so hostile? I meant when we were down 28-26 and we could have tied it up. Miss and we are two points down instead of one, which means Tulane needs a FG either way.[/quote]This is Ponyfans, we tend to eat our own. It has a chilling effect on new members.
