It's only an "attack on the home team" issue when he who reports this LonghornsAreGods newsletter also writes in another post that "SMU is a tick on an elephant's ...." I can't speak for others, but when you attack MY alma mater -- where I paid tuition, where I donate time and money, where I buy season tickets and where I cheer like hell for the Ponies to win and I flat-out hurt when they lose -- then I take it personally. You can kiss up to Uncle Mack all you want (hope that campaign to get him on Mount Rushmore works out for you). But until you stop taking childish potshots at SMU on an SMU FANS' BOARD, you're going to have to expect that you'll get people hacked off at you.

you're not going to cry are you? If you take offense by the FACT that we do not compete with UT, where were you about 18 years ago when this result was determined with little dissent by the decision of academic eggheads to play Ivy League Football. Somebody left the barn door open. Reality has apparently finally set in-welcome to the future. And I'm not taking potshots-I've been one of the most accurate posters on this board for 10 years or so about the direction of this program. This ain't excessive pessimism its accurate realism. So if you're going to get all emotional on me because SMU's athletic program pales with UTs you are about 18 years too late and that game is over.

Who said SMU's athletic program compares with the one at UT? My fraternity softball team didn't compare with the Yankees, either. Like it or not, they're different animals.

If Stallion doesn't get this very clear statement of why he so pisses off people on this board, he'll never get it. Loyalty is not a crime and there's only so much a fan can take.

But at the same time he is right, we pretty much are a tick on the elephants arse......
I am a huge pony fan, to the point were i don't even know why I am anymore....
But the truth is, UT could give a rats arse what we do, why...because we are just that tick on them. It is the truth. Just like some Division Two school who has lost for the past 20 years is a tick on our arse. We don't care what is going on with Mount Nowhere State.
Thats the way the world goes round.

Right. But if you've read many of his posts, you realize he has sort of adopted SMU as his second team. He supports the Ponies more loyally than many of those who graduated from SMU.
SMU! SMU! SMU!

Right. Hell, I've been to see the Ponies play at Kyle Field and I swore I'd never step foot inside that stadium. In fact, I think I've seen more SMU road games than home games.

I too care...
"Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise."

This board has been around for 10 years?

Stallion and his friend jtstang started posting over here on the "sunshine board" when MustangManiacs.com went belly up. What was that, about 5 years ago? Before MM.com, there was the email list. All in all I believe it has been about 10-12 years.
