Well, through 2 games on this 2019 campaign, it certainly appears this SMU team could be as good as any we have fielded in the post death penalty era. We have a quality QB in Shane Buechele and as strong and deep a roster as I can recall. Now, if Sonny & Co could just land that "Pied Piper" recruit, i.e., a guy who is being courted by plenty of P5 schools but chooses to stay home and play for the "local" D-I school and succeed Buechele. Sonny is already doing a good job getting local kids to transfer back home, but a prized local recruit could be the key to successfully recruiting guys coming right out of H.S. in the DFW area. Could Preston be the one?
