Difference in culture

Post by JasonB »

Just about everyone on the football team who isn't going pro is coming back.

Just about everyone on the basketball team who can leave is leaving.

If this observation is incorrect, I'd like to know. It just seems like quite a difference.

Seniors: Jasey, Jolly, Chargois
Juniors: Davis, Bandoumel, Hunt, McNeill, Anei, Douglas, Ray

I assume they won't all leave. Then again, talk about a believable offer of immediate playing time.

I’m so confused. Who is leaving and who is not?

Chargois, Jasey, Jolly, Ray, and Douglas all took part in the virtual senior day yesterday. With all of them having the choice to come back, I am pretty surprised that they all chose to leave.

I’m sorry to belabor the point. But it’s not yet time to make a final decision, is it? I would think we’d just honor them now, but welcome them back with open arms should they decide to return.

If we already honored them this season and then they decide to come back next year then we shouldn't honor them again - it would set a bad precedent.

Kick their moms in the shins instead?

By the way, any word on possible transfers?

I figured that is what you were referring to. In this case though, is it really their decision? Does Jankovich want Jasey, Ray, and Douglas back? I'm sure he would want Jolly back and Chargois too, but basketball players can actually make a living overseas whereas football players risk their longterm health for peanuts and have little to play for outside the NFL and possibly the CFL. I think both of them are ready to make some money like Isiah Mike decided before this season. There is plenty to criticize Jankovich for but having his seniors move on is not one of those things.

I thought both Davis and Hunt considered moving on after last year. Both will be big losses but given the fall signees, is Jank reasonably certain Davis will not return? Would like to see Chargois and Jolly return but aside from trying to make a living in Europe, would they be eligible to transfer and play another season at another school if they are not happy here?

Right now I just hope our guys get to finish this season and that they surprise us with a strong finish. Once the season ends, who knows what next year's roster will look like?

I'd really like to see Jolly back for an extra year.

With Jolly, there are clearly some other things going on, so I am not really surprised.

But I am really surprised with Jasey and Ethan.

Time for Ethan to move on I think. Sounds like it is time for that group to move on, and hopefully there will be some transfers that want to come to Dallas.
