According to his Twitter account, Illinois State safety Clayton Isbell has received an offer from SMU. Isbell (6-2 / 220 — maybe a candidate for the "nickelback" hybrid role in Scott Symons' defense?) was the Redbirds' fourth-leading tackler in 2021 (despite missing two games) with 62 tackles. He also had 2.5 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 3 pass breakups and 3 quarterback hurries.
According to his Illinois State bio, he had a big freshman year in 2019.
