Teams to root for this weekend (outside of the Ponies)

Post by PonyTime »

Most of these are not likely to happen - but all of these will help the Ponies out in some way. I plan to tune into the ones in Bold for a full weekend of basketball watching.

Friday
San Jose State > San Diego State

Saturday
Georgia > Florida
Vanderbilt > Mississippi State
NC State > North Carolina ESPN 1 pm
Dayton > LaSalle
Florida State > Virginia
New Mexico > Air Force
Texas Tech > TCU ESPN2 5pm
Loyola Marymount > Pacific
Pepperdine > BYU
Missouri > LSU
USC > Oregon ESPN2 9pm

Sunday
Illinois > Michigan
Wichita State > Memphis ESPN 1:30 pm - immediately after our game
Minnesota > Indiana

Why not root for Oregon over USC?

LMU really needs this game to snap its ten game losing streak. They only lost by one at Pacific last Saturday so need to get the W tomorrow at home. LMU has had a lot of close losses. Fun fact: Pacific's mascot is the Boxer Dragon.

The reasoning for wanting Oregon to win is it boosts our SOS. The reason for wanting Oregon to lose is they are also in the bubble fighting for a spot along with SMU. Whatever happens happens. Beat Houston!

Oregon is quite the conundrum for us now!

We do need the SOS help but being on the bubble with them is scary. Sure it was early but if the committee just looks at the score it will look out of hand and if they look closer they will see we didn't even hang with them.

I am ok with Oregon winning some mid level pac games - just not beating a highly ranked USC team - I think that would vault them a little too much and push their credentials above ours.

Just beat Houston...again! Or why not win the AAC's automatic bid and not worry about anyone else?

Yeah - a lot of these were long shots. Dayton just took a brutal loss - they will have to win conference to get in now.

We just need to win as that is the way we can position ourselves to not have to sweat it out on selection Sunday.

McNeese lost at home to UIW. NW State and SE Louisiana both won their home games. I suppose those directional LA teams won't climb out of quad 4.

Ugh, TCU came back and beat Tech.

1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 9 ranked teams lost yesterday.
A long tradition of existence.
