Unfortunately, National Signing Day occurred while the Rams were on their Super Bowl run and not looking for new assistants. So, Samples was free to recruit for the Toads (and possibly was doing so while at SMU) until he got offered this job after the Super Bowl. Feel no sympathy at all for Sonny or TCU.
