Rice Named East-West Shrine Bowl Breakout Offensive Player

TAMPA, Fla. (Shrine Bowl/SMU) – Rashee Rice was selected as this week's East-West Shrine Bowl "Breakout Offensive Player" for his performance at Tulsa. The honor is given out to an all-star game eligible offensive player that displayed the most NFL traits that week.

Rice registered nine receptions for 180 yards with two TDs to help lead the Mustangs to a 45-34 win over Tulsa on the road Saturday. The game opened with a career-long TD reception of 75 yards from Preston Stone, and gave Rice his fourth career multi-TD game. The 100-yard game was the ninth of his career and fifth in 2022.

This season, Rice has amassed a team-leading 62 receptions for 982 yards and six touchdowns. Both his receiving yards and receiving yards per game lead the nation, while his receptions per game are fourth.

In the SMU career rankings, Rice is seventh in receptions (199), eighth in receiving TDs (21) and ninth in receiving yards (2,738).

Rice and the Mustangs host Houston Saturday at 6 p.m. on NFL Network.
