Lacrosse Weekend

Post by gostangs »

I guess i have to place this here since other sports are scholarship vs club - but the SMU Lacrosse team swept three games this weekend - Purdue, Texas Tech and Arkansas.

Tech was a wipe out - something like a million to nothing. Pitching a shut out in lacrosse is very rare so hats off to our goalie (s).

Could bode well for a launch to scholarship sport if we get the PAC nod.

I saw on their IG that they won a match 18-0. That is pretty remarkable.

My son played SMU Lacrosse and it is a fabulous spectacular sport. High scoring, fast paced (ice hockey on grass), and limited but safe contact. The Crum Family is to be saluted for donating a dedicated Lacrosse Field near the Presidential Library.

I would love it as a Varsity sport, but realistically it won't happen unless we have P5 money and add Women's Softball or Lacrosse.

College, club, intramural, high school ... 18-0 is impressive at any level. Well done!

If adding a women's sport, it's GOT to be gymnastics. Dallas is the #1 talent pool in the country. It's a shame we don't have one. We could use the same marketing strategy as the football program even.

Follow up - SMU Lacrosse beats Texas (in Austin) by a ton. Texas was ranked 20th in the club sport polls. On a nice roll Mustangs!

This. If SMU adds any new sports it will be ones where we already have the facilities. Gymnastics, especially if we do end up in the PAC, would be a natural fit.
