I'm sorry this is happening (as I'm sure you'd amend bad "day" to now include week, month, and possibly year). This is getting incredibly ugly; and ACC Commisioner Jim Phillips is also now a named defendant in one of the lawsuits. I hope this means the ACC will be rid of him. https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... rn-scandal
Having been an SMU fan my entire life I leave no stone of pessimism unturned. Worst case scenario for us: Northwestern drops football. Big 10 nabs Washington and Oregon to fill the void. PAC collapses into a division of the MWC except for the ones that bolt to Big 12.

NU will never drop football. They are in the BIG and there is too much money at stake for that to even be a thought. We may be stuck in the third tier but that won't be why.

Come on Topper you can do worse than that. We go 0-12 this year and get kicked out of the AAC and end up in the Sunbelt conference. Now that’s a truly bleak scenario.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

You've got to be careful what you say, you might be called a troll.

I’m sorry your feelings were hurt and all, but don’t say trolling things (e.g., SMU hasn’t “even sniffed” a conference championship for 35 years).

This is what we should expect from University presidents. The conference affiliation and related value to the entire university is more that athletics alone. Assuming a reasonable media deal, the PAC-12 institutions are more desirable members to be aligned with.

Or as a novel approach, for 72 hours one could simply not click “Realignment Update.”

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris Bueller at a Pac-12 realignment meeting last night. I guess it's pretty serious because rumors are swirling that he might be secretly advising one of the Pac-12 universities on their conference realignment plans. Imagine Ferris, with his legendary wit and resourcefulness, pulling off a secret mission to help a school gain a competitive edge in the ever-evolving landscape of college sports. Who knows, maybe Ferris Bueller is the hidden mastermind behind the Pac-12 realignment talks!

You just won the Interwebs with that post...just have to wait till this all shakes out. I'll simply add, thank goodness we aren't Northwestern this week...with all sympathy to and for our lone Wildcat rooter/mom.

Seems like I was at UCF's Bounce House in 2010 for a conference championship game. But maybe that was just a dream.

Amid all of the doom and gloom about the PAC media deal: In addition to yesterday's non-negative, kinda optimistic story in the Denver newspaper, ESPN online posted an upbeat story today. Discussing the long awaited announcement of a deal, an unnamed league source said that the conference has been "ridiculously patient" and that "that patience is about to pay off."
The fact that ESPN is not bad-mouthing the conference indicates to me that they will probably have cut a deal for a piece of the media pie. What remains questionable is whether the league will expand.
