Goree Johnson, the Asst AD for DISD, made the statement. He was also Tubbs' successor when he left Kimball for SMU. I'm sure probably had some bitterness when making that statement.

There is no doubt MD will have a tough sell with the DISD. But, they aren't the only school district in the State or the Country. And AAU coaches have influence over players as well. So, hopefully Doherty will be able to get by without too much DISD interference. If we start winning, hopefully kids will start to ignore the spleen coming from their HS coaches about SMU. But if I'm Doherty, I would focus on mending fences, but putting my biggest recruiting efforts elsewhere until as little time passes by. There are plenty of fish out there now, but in the next two years the game changes again when the NBA starts the developmental league and HS players get signed by that league. That could very well even out the teams as the one year wonders go to the developmental league and serious student athletes and projects go to college.

Nyam is signed, right? If so, he's coming.

I thought all we had from him was an oral commitment. Have we actually already signed him? Can someone help clear this up for me???

EastStang makes a great point on offering a few seniors from the same highschool and hopefully they would come as a package. Thats what Calapari did at Memphis and landed Shawnee Williams (serious blue chipper) and 3 others whose names I forget from some school in North Carolina. He has actually said part of his reasoning was to have guys who already have continuity and would gel together well in his sytem. Makes sense to me, of course it didn't hurt that a couple of these guys are serious ball players.

How about Arthur, Morgan and another SOC Sr???? (said while ducking to avoid objects being thrown at me for joking about landing Arthur)

look that may have worked in 1965 but you do realize that the best kids commit in their Junior years these days. You're likely considered a spare if you have to wait to sign until after you become a state champ in your SENIOR year. Even the most novice follower of recruiting should know this. Literrally 90% of the top high school players are gone-the rest are likely considering the NBA, Prep schools or JUCOs

We still have to play the flippin' games next year as far as I know. I guess we could forfeit them all. I'll check with the athletic department.

Stallion, if you read Eaststangs original post he was referring to the '07 recruiting class, which are guys that ARE Juniors currently. While many Juniors have already committed, there are still many who have not.

I made the SOC comment in jest and tried to make that clear in my post, but I guess I was not obvious enough about it.

Yeah well Pal that was the Plan you know. Tubbs' plan was at least Arthur, Morgan and litt' Bobo. All 3 are probably out now. Next plan.

Maybe grandpa Max can salvage some recruits with his checkbook, seeing as NCAA violations are within his capacity...

That plan holds no weight in this conversation bc Arthur was not going to come here for Tubbs or Doherty. I think Ronnie Morgan is still very much a possibility for us though, which means Bobo is still in play too. Unfortunately Donatas will be gone- it would have been sweet to have Bobo and Dodo on the same front line.

Okay, go to Oak Hill Academy (Bamba's alma Mater) and offer their entire junior class. Since every starter there gets a Division I offer, why not? Or go to DeMatha High School outside of DC. Or go to Power Memorial in NYC. Year in, year out, those are powerhouse programs. In Texas because public schools rule the roost, the power programs come and go. But doing something dramatic to create a buzz is one way to do it. But Stallion is correct, I'm sure a lot of schools try that ploy, and they don't work. But that is why every recruiter worth his salt has a plan A, plan B, Plan C... Plan Z.

Rack isn't going anywhere, dude. He meant when Bobo Morgan is a college freshman, Rack would be gone being that next year is his Sr year.
