True: McFall is fine and ready to go. Like all coaches, Lashlee has talked about protecting young players' redshirt years when a team has experienced talent ahead of those young players. He talked during the season about doing that this season, as he always does.
Highlander is right: falling behind clearly factored in, and if you're trying to orchestrate a comeback, it makes sense that when a running back is needed in a potential comeback, you lean on the guy who is climbing his way through the record book and was named first-team All-ACC.
That he didn't play was not a slight in any way against McFall, but rather a game in which circumstances dictated that it made sense to go with proven veterans. When they play Penn State, in front of more than 100,000 people, it's safe to assume you're going to see a lot of Smith and Johnson there, too.
