And the BPS boot drops! Too bad. Hard to compete with Bama. Hopefully RL has a solid backup plan...

Re: Keelon Russell
We have 2 capable QBs on the team and an incoming FR Lashlee recruited when he was at Miami so it's not exactly time to panic but it's good to have a QB in every class so back to the drawing boardAusTxPony wrote:And the BPS boot drops! Re: Keelon Russell
They have four scholarship QBs on the roster — Stone and Jennings, of course. During the spring, the coaches raved about the progress of Keldric Luster ... and the Florida QB you mentioned, Aronson, was on campus and took part in spring ball.

Bottom line is that we are not hurting in the QB room, although a "Pied Piper" recruit is always good to have and Keelon looked like he might have been that guy

Re: Keelon Russell
Although the sound quality was terrible, I enjoyed listening to Billy Embody's podcast yesterday where he broke down the Keelon Russell situation. Sounds like we recruited him the right way, put our best foot forward, and that he was serious in his commitment. It also sounds like an offer from Texas, A&M, or Alabama was always going to make him re-think things. . . and SMU knew it. From what Billy said, both SMU and Keelon acted correctly, and we just got beat out by the SEC/Alabama big stage. I get it. But like I said before, these things are never truly over until all eligibility is used up in this transfer portal world. I wish Keelon all the best at Alabama. If it doesn't work out at Bama for him for whatever reason, and both he and SMU see a good transfer fit when the time comes, then it would be great to see him on the Hilltop!

Exactly. There is always the possibility he might want to come home and finish his college career at SMU (see Cam Wheaton who I'm pulling for to have a big year)1983 Cotton Bowl wrote:Although the sound quality was terrible, I enjoyed listening to Billy Embody's podcast yesterday where he broke down the Keelon Russell situation. Silver lining? Keelin wouldn’t start in the 2025-2026 season anyway and we’d likely lose one of our top 2 if he came on. Give me the birds in hand!
