This should be a great year, a weaker schedule and more upper classmen on the field. And don't call out Stallion. He's right about a lot of things, and wrong about some things. If you want to have a positive thread leave it at that.

I like the topic, because it gives me a chance to crash the thread with realism, so I will post here. I have no expectations that the ponies will win. If they lose I am not disappointed, and if they win I am pleasantly surprised.

A LOT of pony attitudes are like that. We have been soooo beaten down that we dare not get our hopes up. But, let us not confuse protecting ourselves with being realistic. 8)

The only realism I see in your post is the reality that you "... have no expectations that the ponies will win." That's a sad way to go through life jt.

Yeah, I saw the year the new Pony Dawg graduated, got him confused with ponydawg, and was thinking: "Wow they should name a building after you if you paid a decade's worth of tuition at SMU."

P.S. The duck walk is cool.

Yes it even confused myself, have been in Vegas since friday morning, checked PFans this morning, didn't remember posting anything, thought maybe I posted during a bender.....oh well, guess I wasn't that cool.

The good news is that if anyone is going to Vegas soon, I left some money there for you.

Not true, PK. As it relates to SMU athletics, I minimize my chances for disappointment and maximize my chance for pleasant surprises. True, I was living sadly for a lot of years, expecting this football team to bounce back from the death penalty and being chronically disappointed, but I have developed a better system over time.

Excuse me for not buying it. Anyone can have a bad decade or two.

How about us Cubs fans? We are quickly approaching the century mark. The Red Sox and White Sox got the monkey off their backs in the last two World Series. And 2006 isn't going to be the year either.

Washington baseball fans have been waiting since 1924 (Walter Johnson was the star back then). We even had to go 24 years without a team. Had we kept the first set of Senators (we would have been rewarded when the Twins won several years ago). But the Texas Rangers (the second iteration of the Senators) have failed as well and they're up to 25 years of incompetence. But Cubs fans are a long suffering lot. Long live Three Finger Mordecai Brown.

Hmmm, the board seems to be running quickly today. Nice!

This year, as much as most in recent years, is a total crap shoot. However, on a plus, at least this year the dice are loaded in our favor.

Crap Shoot:
You never really know what you've got with a freshman QB, but we've been hearing good things about Willis. The OL looks good on paper, but we have no experienced depth. The DBs are athletic, but only one is experienced in his current position. We could really get stung by TTech on opening day.

Loaded Dice:
I'm not really concerned about or LBs like many because for all intents, Carrington coulda/shoulda started last year and McCray is returning. After TTech, life gets easy. Our defense should be stellar. If the QB works, the offense could be quite productive as well. We're bigger, more athletic and more experienced than an year in recent memory.
