We need to look at the University of Virginia who has recently transformed their football "Dress Code" under a program Coach Al Groh calls "Orange Fever"
Old Dress Code:
Shirt and tie for men, sundresses for the ladies
New Dress Code: Anything and everything orange (though the Orange Fever t-shirts the school sells are very popular)
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/s ... ginia0923/
http://www.answers.com/topic/scott-stadium
From the second article:
Though ties and especially sundresses can still be easily found at Virginia football games, many have compromised to wearing ties with orange shirts. Some very creative ladies have even been spotted in orange sundresses. However, many more students have begun wearing orange t-shirts (with slogans like "Orange Crush", "Orange Fever", and "Sea of Orange") and abandoning the coats and ties or sundresses altogether.
Let's pick a color and do that here! How about the Red Sea?

[quote="giacfsp"]The stands need to be filled with SMU gear: hats, jerseys, t-shirts .... it's a football game, not a fashion show, and the best-looking fans will still look good, even in a lineman's jersey. Leave the fancy duds at home, and break out mass quantities of SMU gear![/quote]
Ditto.

My time at Ole Miss indoctrinated me completely into the "dress code" camp for football games. BUT, considering the Mustang games, you have to tone it down a little - so I say nice, but school colors. Undergrads should dress up - alumni can do the red polos (or the Hawaiian shirts if you really want, just try to get one w/ red in it???).

last year i wore a green shirt that i made saying " BAYLOR SUCKS" across the front... and as funny as i thought it was my girlfriend (at the time, ur typical sorority girl) and many of the baylor fans did not think it was as funny... so i figure i will continue to make my own shirts, but with a little more creativity!

Once I get to the Hilltop...I'll be there for the 2007 season (if all goes according to plan), I will be wearing:
Games 1, 3, and 5: Red button-down shirt with Blue tie (Mustang Logo tie) and Blue SMU baseball cap
Games 2, 4: White button-down shirth with Red tie (Mustang Logo tie) and Red SMU baseball cap
Away games: Red SMU polo with Blue SMU baseball cap

Yes but do you have blue pants and red shoes for games 1,3,5; and red pants and blue shoes for games 2,4?

I usually wear a red shirt with my white SMU hat. Unless the team we're playing is red (Texas Tech a couple years ago), where I wore blue.

How about changing at halftime, like The Mustang Band?

That would have to be a "first". If/when we get a nationally televised game (in a decent time slot) against a "big name" opponent... and obviously at Ford Stadium... some Daddy Warbucks puts all the 'stangs in NAVY t-shirts for the first half and then pull the "switch" to RED t-shirts at halftime... it would be fun, chaotic, memorable and would trump the white outs, maroon outs and all the other "outs" that deal with just ONE color. Something we could plan for the future....

The trouble with this is that we would have to change the color of all of the empty seats for it to be effective. And if the stadium is full it would more than likely be full primarily with the opposition that would make the change unnoticed.

To get the best effect in Ford, you should wear the colors of the seats in your section. If your seats are red, wear a red shirt. If your seats are blue, wear a blue shirt.
If you don't want to wear the school colors, then get your seats in the stadium club, that way we can't see you anyway.
Just send 'da money.
