I wish it were the 2007 NC schedule

Postby Sam I Am » Thu Jul 13, 2006 7:50 am

Next year we play Tech, UNT, TCU and Baylor in the NC schedule. That is a more interesting slate than this year. SHSU and Ark State just don't work for me.

You should have let the athletic department know sooner.

Is it the opponents you're not interested in, or the quality of the games? The Ark St game should be a good matchup I think, didn't they win their conference?
It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.

In my opinion, this year's schedule is perfect for this year's team. We've got a young, inexperienced QB and we have a team with enough experience to build on last season's season ending momentum. Throw in some games in September against teams from less competitive leagues and we have a chance to gain some confidence. While the matchups aren't going to do much for attendence, if we go 3-1 before the conference schedule starts, we should have a more experienced and confident QB, we should get some local media buzz, and maybe the students will maintain some interest. If we can then parlay that into a decent conference run, I'll be pleased with how this year's schedule fell into place. Of course, if we lose a few of these early games, we're hosed. Hopefully, the former occurs and then next season's schedule will fit our team (ideally coming off of its second winning season post-1986) perfectly.

Once we show we have the capacity to win a game in September, I am all for a more difficult NC schedule. Until then, lets try to win a game or 2 at the beginning of the season to give confidence and hope for the remainder of the season.

I would have traded you guys for UC Davis, it's unfortunate that you weren't interested this year

SMU turned down our offer to play this year . . . I guess the athletic department wanted that skillet one more year.

Great Schedule...

It should be more like that every year. Especially with us improving, eventually we can starting calling Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Texas to play some ball, that might be around 2008 though.

GO PONIES!!!

When did they offer it? After we already had our Non Conference schedule filled up?

*LOL* IF????? C'mon, raplh...don't you have more confidence than that in the Mustangs? After all, Sam Houston State is just a lowly Div. 1-AA team! ;)
