At the SEC Meeting, Todd Turner, the AD at Vanderbilt, captured the attention of some of his peers by asking their readiness to meet new "academnic performance and progress" standards, etc. This issue means quality schools may gain greater leverage in gaining or holding on to scholarships. Funk-out U.'s will be at a disadvantage. Partial qualifiers and poor grades/test scores increase the risks of lossing scholarship starting in 2005.

or else they will just do what Fresno St. has apparently done in the last few years. Create even more courses that make it incredibly easy to remain eligible despite being non-qualifiers, partial qualifiers et al.

I doubt it would change who SMU recruits. But it would be great to see some other schools "adjust" their recruiting practices!
