There are a lot of folks out there who seem to think Justin Willis just learned to walk a few weeks ago. Yes, he's young. Yes, he's getting ready to take his first college snap. Yes, he's got a stable of talented runners to whom he can hand off .... led, of course, by DeMyron Martin.
With that in mind, everyone on the planet is expecting an opening game plan of Martin right, Martin left, Martin up the middle. So, since Coach Burns probably is awaiting my suggestion for the first play....
* Willis takes the snap.
* Pitches to Martin, who heads up the middle.
* Martin turns and tosses the ball back to Willis for a flea flicker.
* The entire Tech secondary is crept up, and Willis hits Rey Pellerin on a deep sideline route.
* Touchdown, SMU!
If the coaches want me to map out any other parts of the gameplan, I'm always wiling to help.

Well, let's give them two surprises to think about...how about a purposeful kickoff fumble followed by a lateral pass to Jessie Henderson on the other side of the field...sound familiar??? Touchdown!!!!

your reference to surprising the opponent led me to a thought. Did we sneak up on people last year because our record had been so bad for so long? Is this year going to be tougher because people like Houston and UAB will be more ready for us? Just a thought as you make your bowl predictions.

drop-kicked field goal on 3rd down. (we might try this for real if our kickers aren't good this year. Less humiliating to miss that than a conventional field goal)

There is a chance the sun will burn out while you sleep.

It's deja vu, all over again!
However, for this play to really work, we have to win the coin toss! 50-50 chance.

Wrong. It would still be blocked.

Nah -- even if Tech gets the ball first, we're still going to have a first drive. That play would definitely work.
