This is beyond inappropriate. The season hasn't even started. Let him coach the team. To discuss this now is unfair to Coach Bennett, his staff, the players and the recruits.

I think Coach Bennett is setting goals for himself and the team. And they are attainable and measurable. He isn't saying "we're going undefeated this year". Sure if Willis gets injured, or some other major injury occurs, this could change the dynamic for the year. But the goals are reasonable goals for this year. Also Bus is absolutely correct and quantifiably so. The players we have on this team are for a fact bigger and faster than any team we've had since the SWC folded and perhaps since the DP. Check times in the 40 and weights and tell me which SMU team had a bigger and faster starting line-up than this team. The depth chart is still a bit thin and the skill players at QB and CB are young, but this is definitely a better team in size and speed alone.

Neuheisel and Barnett, is it just me or do both of these guys remind you of a used car salesman. If we were to ever hire either one of these two, it would me that the $ are back in play on the Hilltop.

I'm relatively new at SMU Football. Don't have much background to draw from, but our guys looked plenty quick last year, and from what I've been told they are even faster and stronger this yr.
Is there someplace to go to see the 40 times and strength charts from previous yrs. and times and strength charts from this group for this year?

Just to get it over with, what about Charlie Waters? Just kidding... I expect PB to lead us to 7 wins this year. If not there is a chance he may be replaced by another coach.

This concludes my generic sports opinion of the day.

The only inappropriate topics on this board are pictures of hot chicks, political discussion and MM1965.
Just my two cents.

I think golf threads get dumped especially when certain players are mentioned. I also think that any thread that mentions a certain song that a certain former AD tried to pass off on us as a new fight song is getting on very very thin ice.

Willis will surprise, even shock some of you folks .... in a good way, of course. The Ponies will be the story around here this year. Eight wins - mark it down.

Okay folks - I'm going to try to get this thread back on the rails...

Bennett told us SMU fans to EXPECT to go bowling this year. You know what, whether you want to believe him or not - or whether you think he should have said something a little lighter - is not what we should be discussing.

Let me repeat - Bennett told us fans to EXPECT to go bowling this year. When was the last time our coach exuded such bravado. I applaud it. He's not saying the politically correct things that previous coaches might, like say "we're going to play hard every week.... blah, blah, blah"... true every coach has to believe that they are going to win every week, but as of late we have had too many coaches who are overwhelmed by the suckage, and won't say anything "outlandish"/"incomprehensible" as that. Look - the coach believes in the team. He really does, or he wouldn't say it.

When was the last time we had a team to believe in? Maybe Bennett's a sunshiner. Well, I'd rather have him coaching our boys than most of the gloomer doomers on this board.

Took about 40 minutes to get my post about religion deleted. Add that to the list of things not to discuss.
Just my two cents.

I am all for expectations. Especially from the coaches in August (close enough). We hear lots of hype at this school. Usually, it is after the season, during recruiting or during fundraising. Rarely, if ever, has the coach told SMU faithful to expect anything out of them this year.

You must be pleased as punch with all the coverage the ponies are getting on Channel 52. Both times I ever watched that channel, there was nary a mention of UT.
