Damn. I didn't even attend SMU and I know the words and can sing "Varsity"!

If that is his version of the Alma Mater, then it is with even more irony that ponyboy questions my loyalty.

Well if that's what you mean, you can kiss my @ss, sunshiner. I've been loyal to SMU since I was barely walking, the last twenty years of which time this administration and athletic department has done absolutely nothing, I mean NOTHING, to repay my loyalty, save for a couple of well-thought-out soccer homecoming games. In fact it is the lack of loyalty by ostriches like you with your head buried in the sand who are fine with the status quo which has allowed the suffering to continue for true fans like me to the point where we have nothing left to root for except the occasional last minute upset win over St. Valentine State school for the deaf. The fact is, they have done nothing for you either but you are just to stinking blind with sunshine to see it. So carry on with your rah-rahs, I don't begrudge you them, but don't mistake realism for lack of loyalty, you sunshine-loving, reality-rejecting, "loyalist" fan wannabe.
jt: I am asking this in all seriousness. What do you want the administration and athletic department to do to repay your loyalty? I'd really like to know.

Whatever it takes, within the rules, to get back to just decent (i.e., a winning season and post season appearance every 3-5 years or so) in revenue sports would be sufficient for me. After all, despite my frustration, I am one of the few who have stuck around after twenty years of this crap.

I agree with you 100%. I was just wondering if you had any specific thoughts on what the administration and athletic dept. should do to repay yours - and others - loyalty during this drought?

That's not my job. But I know it can be done, they did it 30 miles to the west, and then some. People like Stallion and others have outlined what seem to me to be reasonable steps, some of which have been taken, some of which, many dealing with cirriculum changes, have apparently not. I'm not asking for the moon, something short of that ought to be doable.

I'd like the administration to come up with an official drink of the Boulevard.... that would in some way repay all of us... you know, like the Mint Julip (at the Kentucky Derby), and others...

I propose:

The Tequila Mockingbird

Ill bet anything that the only thing that stallion gives to SMU is negative criticism. I bet he dont give money or more so get his coward face in the stands and support the Red/Blue!

I thought from the title of this thread I might read something about our QBs but instead find yet another thread of Mustang fans bashing each other.

Anyways, to comment on the QB issue...I hope it's true that Willis isn't blowing away his competition for the starter's job. After all, he is a RS frosh who not many head coaches thought enough of to even recruit him as a QB.

I was pleased by a lot of what I saw from Romo last year. I hope BOTH these guys turn out MUCH BETTER than Romo because they have a chance to be here a lot longer than the one good year we got out of Romo

Keep in mind, the first-string offense has been practicing against the first-team defense. If Willis or Slater can survive against our starting defensive line, they can hang in there against any defensive line they'll see all year.

You must have learned your version of the Alma Mater at Mustang Corral.

Excellent idea. But what's in that drink (besides tequila)?

Many Ponyfans love to talk about themselves more then anything - and you only need to work your way up this thread to figure which ones I mean. Hopefully the team will provide enough entertainment that the narcissist will have to head to the sidelines for a season or two.

Enough about me. What do you think about me?
