PerunaPunch wrote:Texadelphia, located in the Village Shopping Center, will be unveiling the SMU Athletics mural. This mural is 19 ft wide! Come see if you can guess all of the Mustangs featured. Try the "Doaker" a hamburger dedicated to Doak Walker. For each "Doaker" sold Texadelphia will donate .37 to the Mustang Club. The unveiling begins at 6pm! Get there early!
Sounds like it's time to reassemble the Burger Crew!!
Orsini mentioned this at last night's Happy Hour. Unveiling is tonight at 6 p.m.
Wonder if Texadelphia will remove the U.T. flags outside for this event?

UPDATE: Texadelphia HAS removed its U.T. Longhorn flags from in front of the restaurant!!!
The Mrs. and I ate lunch there today and both of us had The Doaker. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! Very tasty meat, HUGE patty, loaded with all the trimmings! Remember: for each Doaker purchased, Texadelphia will contribute .37 cents to The Mustang Club! This is ALL THE TIME!!!!
The SMU Mustangs mural is FANTASTIC! It covers the whole wall along the order line and represents ALL SMU sports with images of famous Mustang athletes from over the years and there's a 'time line' showing historic dates in SMU sports history. If they turn this into a poster (I've already called the Mustang Club to suggest it!) I think it'll sell!
Go by Texadelphia and take a look at the mural, eat a Doaker and relive SMU sports history all at once!

For what it's worth, the burger at The Public House was damned tasty. A little salty for my taste, but overall, very good. It will be on my personal menu for any future visits down there.
Fries were about average, if that.

Too salty?
Had to ADD salt. But you're right -- very good burger.

I swear the fries had some sort of red pepper on them, to get people to buy more beer.

Update on Joe Willey's:
The sign is still there, but the there is a new banner up saying "Tilley's Coming Soon" or somesuch. Looks like it is officially dead.

Bummer. Having said that, I never was too excited about their location. Maybe they will open up at a new location...some day.

As of this week, there were four UT flags hanging out front, and nothing representing SMU.

Did they paint over the mural after the ECU loss?

Don't think so. I read the comment as suggesting there was nothing OUT FRONT about SMU. Makes me want to find some other place to eat.

The UT flags were prominently posted outside Sunday, October 29, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. when I went there to eat. Changed my mind and went to Fuddrucker's.

Exactly. They might have the greatest mural in the world in there, and if they give money to the Mustang Club, that's cool, too. But when I see those flags out front, I see it as a UT-friendly eatery, not an SMU-friendly eatery. SMU allegiance weighed heavily in my decisions about who should sell me my car, my house and as many other business decisions as I can. I support SMU, I support SMU alumni and I support SMU alum-owned businesses, and businesses that tout their ties with SMU.
