Here Comes Sam Houston State

Postby MrMustang1965 » Sat Sep 09, 2006 10:40 pm

Just to show everyone what happened today in Huntsville. The Sam Houston State Bearkats played their first game of the season against the University of Arkansas - Monticello (mascot is the Boll Weevills :? ), a Div. II team. No, Rhett Bomar (former OU QB who has transferred to Sam Houston State) has not yet been re-instated by the NCAA.

QB Wade Pate passed for 259 yards and three touchdowns, all to Michael Malone, as Sam Houston opened the 2006 season with a 41-3 victory.

Stay tuned...

The spread will be pretty close. I would guess SMU+3 or 4.

Why wouldn't SHSU be favored for this one?

Clearly, they at least have an offense, and last time I checked the NCAA rulebook, you do still score points to win a game.

I would say we might have a chance if they only have one receiver that can catch the ball, but apparently we had trouble stopping.....one receiver tonight.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Unless they fire Phil this week, I'm rooting for the Bearkats to go head and finish off PB.

Hook me up with a SHS jersey MM65!

Correct me if I am wrong, but there won't be a line next week. Not with SHSU being a 1AA team.

You are correct. No line. Not that it matters.

Here's what SHSU did against Div. II Arkansas State - Monticello today.

Wade Pate passed for 259 yards and three touchdowns all to wide receiver Michael Malone as Sam Houston State opened the 2006 football season with a non-conference victory over Arkansas-Monticello Saturday at Bowers Stadium.

Pate found Malone in the left hand corner of the end zone for a 19-yard scoring strike on the third play of the game. The Bearkats never looked back as they rolled up 439 yards total offense while limiting the Boll Weevils to 138 total yards.

Pate completed 22 of 30 passes and did not give up an interception. Malone led Bearkat receivers with six catches for 99 yards. Andrew Audelin rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown and caught six passes for 49 yards.

The Bearkat defense, led by Byran Richmond and Shane Richburg, each with six stops, recovered three fumbles and intercepted two passes.

Audelin scored on a one-yard touchdown with 8:51 left in the first quarter. Pate hit Malone again for a 20-yard score with 11:02 in the second period. Malone caught a 23-yard scoring pass from Pate with 9:49 in the third period.

Backup quarterback Phillip Daugherty threw to Catron Houston for a 21-yard touchdown and freshman running back Chris Poullard tallied on a 38-yard run to complete scoring for the Bearkats.

Put us out of our misery

Postby Sam I Am » Sun Sep 10, 2006 10:26 am

A loss to SHSU will put us out of our miseries once and for all this year. The school will be put on probation by the NCAA for lack of attendance if we lose this next game. No one will come back to any more games in 2006. Given PB's September record and the Bearkats good passing offense, this game was going to be difficult before we went 0-2. Lose to SHSU and we will go 0-4. The team might actually win a few games late in the season since that has been PB's pattern if he wins any games. But it won't matter this time. This is the end, my friend. Sing it, Mr. Morrison.

Because you don't necessarily need to know how to spell to be a good football team. Just ask the University of Texas Longhorns.
