Im interested in what everyone thinks about the QB situation at SMU. From what I have seen in Willis is that he gets happy feet and likes to scramble around to much. This can be fixed but im interested in seeing more PT for Corey Slater. Who knows what would have happened against Tech or UNT if he had gotten a shot. He showed some bright spots on the only drive he was given in the first half against UNT and if not for the dropped pass by Sanders they most likely would have scored some points. Against Tech he didnt see time until the game was out of reach. What does everyone else think?

Better yet, let Slater call Willis' plays. Talk about wide open offense!!!!

Or for the sake of past neglect, we could let the tight ends call the plays.

TCU and Texas are famous for recruiting gunslingers.. just read the paper.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I would like to see Willis run more and not just for his life. Like QB draw plays and not a scramble or a straight QB run like in the UNT game.
Stat wise Willis has done fine and better than Slater, though Slater had limited shots.

There needs to be just one QB and that decision needs to stick. If Willis isn't performing, then Slater needs to be the one and only (unless hurt or the game is out of reach). However, I think Willis is doing fine right now. The playcalling needs to be better and he needs to learn a few things, but I've been happy with his playing in the games. No more QB controversy at SMU! Strong leadership.

What happened to that play where the quarterback in the shotgun fakes the handoff and then keeps it and runs a counter? We used to run that all the time but I have not seen it yet this year.
We do that formation but just keep handing it off everytime instead of adding a keeper with it.

Don't you listen to Bennett EVER? We have an inexperienced QB this season, unlike all PB's other season's as head coach. Because of this, we must limit the playbook to a maximum of 5 plays so the QB won't make any mistakes.

5 Plays??
Are we sure we should add that many new plays in one week?

I count 5 QBs on the roster (including Phillips) that we don't need to worry about redshirting. I think it would be fun if we give them all a chance. Let's rotate every 2 or 3 plays and really get some variety. Defenses would have a hard time remembering which ones are runners and which ones are throwers. We could even have 2 line up together in the backfield and run some decoy plays.

This is kinda cute. We limit an inexperienced QB to 5 plays and one play that is too complex thus not in the plan apparently is "take the snap and run".

Didn't we try that a couple of years ago with Wallis lining up in the backfield, then splitting out as a flanker? As I recall he did have the ball thrown to him, and after getting blasted by a DB, was out for a few games with a shoulder injury?
