For all those on the game thread, and those not - I find it amusing that all our wives think we are dorks. I have been dating/married to my wife for 10 years and she has seen me go thru a decade of typical SMU football. She says the same to me as everybody else's wife does - "Why bother?"

Why bother? She'll never understand...

Consider what I have to combat:

My wife grew up in Baton Rouge.
My wife has gone to SEC games for 25 years.
I have a stepdaughter at LSU.
The first time my wife saw the Mustang Band, she asked, "where are the rest of them?"
We pay extra $$ to TAF (LSU's version of the Mustang Club) so that we have points to help with priority for bowl game/postseason tickets...my wife again in the beginning asked, "now what is it that Mustang Club contribution gets you?"
We get College Gameplan so that we can watch her Tigers every Saturday...and I make sure I can access www.TheTicket.com and have paid my All-Access $$.

And yet, my favorite thing in the world is to take her to Ford and watch her get frustrated at Mustang fans around her for not following her lead..after all, she says, she only knows one way to cheer for her team, and that's loud, long and loyal.

And ultimately, because of her intense loyal to her SEC team, I get the idea that sooner or later she understands why it is those of us on pf.com spend so much time where we do. Which doesn't keep her from voicing her frank, blunt observation as a first-person observer at times when appropriate, "man, you guys suck..." Hopefully that changes.

Finally, last night upon calling her up and giving her a scoring update and Willis' stats, and then reading her what was mentioned about the wife's comments in Florida...."you guys all need help..."

Mrs. McClown believes that my obsession with SMU football is rather strange. She is not crazy about the time I spend listening to the Ticket on Weekend evenings.

Mrs. JesuitPony is also a Mustang and enjoys going to the games. She just thinks listening to the game online is a bit much. Despite her reaction, she told me that she enjoyed hearing the SMU band.

I got mine. Met my wife at SMU, but she transferred after I graduated to Sam Houston State b/c she wanted to be a teacher, and her dad put the ka-bosh on paying SMU tuition for a teacher's ROI.

She threatened that she would wear orange to the game...

She stayed home.

And I text-messaged her each and every score.

Now THAT is dedication, 'cause I ain't gonna be gettin' mine for the near future.

I gotta do a better job diplomatically of choosing my battles.

She should have been a quarterback.

Easy now, jt. I'd have never married her had she been a QB.
In fact, I'd pretty much have written her off at the outset, but hey, that's just my preference.

(I am blithely ignoring the clever but completely out of context drawing in of SMU's QB history with Sam Houston State University. I didn't care for her leaving SMU, but I clearly got over it. I married up.)

BTW, I like your new avatar. The jabberjaw thing was not serious enough for the row you have running w/ Big10Ponyfan.

While on the subject, do we have to do something in particular to a .jpg or similar file to use it as avatar?? I use the stock footage, and I am unsure how to find a new one.

Blithe ignorance of that reference is probably the way to go. As for the avatar, I just found a few pics I liked and saved them on my machine. I think there are size limits (both in terms of dimensions and data) to use a picture as an avatar, but you can use just about whatever you can find out on the net, I think, even the animated .gif kinds.

How do you add an avatar? I tried to add one through updating my profile, but couldn't figure it out.
