Cite one source that proves the players Coach Bennett inherited are better than the ones he has recruited. The athletes are bigger, stronger and faster, and he has done a good job projecting guys who are "too small" (Justin Rogers) or "too slow" (Joe Sturdivant) and still become good players. Again: the rankings of recruiting service wonks are only mildly useful -- sure, you can look at Sergio Kindle and realize he's an amazing athlete, but in the next tier, not all players fit all teams. Texas Tech would have no use for an option QB, no matter how highly he is ranked. Air Force (don't they still run that goofy triple option?) would have little use for a guy who actually can throw a spiral.
Maybe some of us are "cheerleaders" (as you call it). Frankly, a lot of us are more objective than you think, just as the naysayers aren't all as perpetually negative as many people say. In the case of nearly everyone on this board, it's somewhere in between. The difference is, it's more fun to hope for the best for your team.
