All I'm saying is, there are different kinds of emotion. NTSU hated us, and waited 14 years for the chance to kick our [deleted]. That's one kind of emotion. Heart-warming, touchy-feely, televised homecomings engender another kind. I can tell you that this emotion will not do much when they realize they do not have the fan support of the Saints. REVENGE from a 31-10 [deleted] whipping is a third kind of emotion. This emotion has much more in common with NTSU's emotion than what Tulane will be feeling. It's based in anger. In football, give me a good dose of anger over a tear-jerking homecoming any day of the week.

DO NOT SET OUR TEAM UP FOR EXCUSES IN THIS GAME. Tulane was 2-9 last year. 1-2 this year, including a miserable loss at Houston. And I'm telling you, hurricane or no hurricane (sorry), I do not care what Rivals says, 3-11 freaking BLOWS. If we can't beat this team like a red-headed, buck-toothed stepchild, I don't know who we can expect to beat.

If we lose this game, I do not want to hear people talking about how it was "impossible to go into the Superdome and perform well under the circumstances." If we can't win this game, why are we here.

(MARK) BTW I bet SMU's road record over the last 10 years is about 15% which is worse than Tulane's road record since Katrina. Tulane is a much better team than you are giving them credit for- I'm not making excuses I'm saying that they will be playing a team with the relative strength of SMU and we should be happy as hell to win by 1 point in New Orleans in this situation. If you don't understand the difficulty of winning on the road in a conference game under these conditions then you are destined to learn that lesson over and over again.

I understand the difficulty of winning on the road in these circumstances. But I EXPECT it, becasue I know what they're capable of, and I want them to realize what they're capable of. Only teams who suck never win anything that is diffficult.

The one thing in college sports is when you win on the road, it doesn't matter if the game is at Rice or at Memphis. Any road win is a good win.

No, but ask me again if we don't beat Tulane.

We gotta set the tone... early. Take control of the game from the opening kick off. If we let them control the tempo, we'll lay down and take a whippin' like we did last year. I don't expect that to happen.

New Orleans no more identifies with Tulane than Dallas does with SMU, but this is a special date and I agree with those fearing this game could be an emotional mismatch. I just hope it doesn't get out of control early...like the game in Dallas did last year. I'd be thrilled to see SMU win this game. Road wins have been rare throughout the history of SMU football...especially in the post death penalty years
