CRAIG JAMES BASHES SMU...

Postby J.T.supporta » Sat Sep 30, 2006 4:10 pm

I highly dont most people saw or heard what he said but during halftime of the Texas Tech - Texas A&M game, James said Illinois was one of the worst Football teams in the country then he said SMU is down there in the bottom with them...

How can James, Former SMU great during the days of the Mustang Express, bash his former school when they have a record of 2-2 and the Illini just won their first game of the year???

It just shows how much respect we get, even from former alum...

No one gives us a shot and CRAIG JAMES can go stick sumthin up his pompus [deleted]...

He's still miffed because we didn't deem his son worthy of a scholarship (like he needs the money or something).

lovely, however, even the most lowliest of programs' alumni will at least feign support when given a national stage.

What CJ said is true. I'm sure he would like to SMU become respectable again just as much as anybody on this board but it hasn't happened. I bet his comments were made out of frustration. I guess he could have not made any comments about the team but he did so get over it.

He probably saw the core of the UNT game and was disgusted. I still am I will continue to be unless the Mustangs salvage a winning season.

Exactly. Win or lose, you publicly support your school. True alums and fans speak highly of their schools and root for the schools' teams at all costs. James should be ashamed of his comments. I know I am.

While it may be true, unless there was a specific reference or question about how SMU was doing, or how they compared to Illinois then the comment was just mean-spirited. We really can't look any worse in the media than we have the past 20 years, but Craig James certainly can, and seems to be taking steps to make sure he does.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

I heard it. Then I said he didn't bash us. Used the magic of Tivo then dropped an F -bomb on Craig James. I hope nothing but failure on the pin striped peckerwood. Also, the reason why his son is not at SMU is because there was no baseball team to walk onto.

I am pretty familiar with the guy. He is a pr!ck to put it mildly. He is miffed that number 1 son didn't get an offer so that he could leverage that with other schools - as if anyone wanted his kid. Adam by the way is a really good kid.........

And that "offer" from Tech is a joke.................

It is true what he said. Maybe he is as frustrated as many of us are! I have said it, my friends have said it, ex-football players have said it, members and leaders of the Mustang Club have said it and many of us have written it here. After what, 19 seasons of poor football? we have a right to try to raise the fire on the administration, board, professors, etc. and anyone that is on the SMU payroll or cares about the school. At least he recognizes his school, unfortunately, during football season, most alumns simply go into hiding and just hide their heads in indifference!

Anyway,I really think he deserves my respect when as a sophomore, he and MacK upset the no. 2 ranked shorthorns in Austin!
