The dallas morning news deemed it more important to put a story about Grambling st drilling the ever so powerful prarie view a&m on the sports main page of the internet instead of the smu game..
Isn't the DMN a main sponsor of just about every smu fball and bball game? yah they are
Hey DMN why don't you take a lesson from the Leader in Sports (ESPN), they deemed it important enough to write about Tulane having their first home game at the superdome.. why don't you give the school that is right down the street some credit..
Will i continue to live? yes, but I just think it is sorry that the DMN always puts smu at the bottom of the totem pole

Explanation = The Grambling v PV A&M game was played at the Cotton Bowl yesterday during the second day of the State Fair of Texas. The DMN is also a BIG TIME sponsor of the largest state fair in the nation. Lots of visitors in town for that game each year. Another chance to sell newspapers out of the racks.
I agree that it sucks. It's the newspaper business.

and will continue to do so because SMU's fan base isn't as large as the 'Horns, Aggies, Red Raiders, etc. Yes, it sucks.

I noticed 2 articles written by the new lady that were posted shortly after midnight. She could have slept late and phoned it in. I was kind of impressed.

Buy stock in Belo and see what happens. Got any comments on TCU?

I want to know how many Grambling and Prairie View fans are in the Dallas media market. After all, that's the excuse we've been hearing about the UT, Tech, A&M, OU coverage.

Probably more than SMU fans.

I think the SMU alumni count in DFW is 30,000 or so...which probably means about 15,000 "fans"
Isn't that sad when only half the alumni can count as fans?

Did anyone else see the coverage of the game in the sports section of the New Orleans Times-Picayune this morning? There was a huge spread that took up more of the front page than the article about the LSU-Mississippi State game!!! If the DMN covered SMU like the T-P covered Tulane last night, many on this board would be much happier.

That's true, but it's no different than UT being in Austin and getting more DMN coverage. While I am sure there are more LSU alums and fans in New Orleans than there are Tulane fans, New Orleans's flagship newspaper covers the hometown team. The DMN should take a cue from the Times-Picayune's Tulane coverage on how (at a minimum) SMU should be covered.
