The Public House: WOW!

Postby MrMustang1965 » Sun Oct 01, 2006 10:16 am

For those of you who didn't make it to The Public House on Greenville Ave. to watch the game last night...you missed a incredible SMU away game TV viewing atmosphere! The crowd was raucous! The drinks were great! (never had Jaigermeister Bombs before...I'm still tasting them this morning!...sweet Christmas, am I hungover!) The eye candy was incredible! Mustang fans cheering & yelling and when Jesse Henderson made his 100+ yd. kickoff TD return, you'd have thought SMU had just won the national championship! The place was rocking!

Early in the first quarter some Tech fans showed up and tried to take over the place after their last-minute victory over the Aggies. We let 'em know right then and there that if they wanted to stay, they'd better turn into Mustang fans real quick! Some of 'em stayed, some of 'em left! SMU fans TOOK OVER THE PUBLIC HOUSE LAST NIGHT AND IT WAS AMAZING!

And yes...bagice was there and bought drinks for those who stuck around after the game was over! If you left before the final gun or immediately scurried out the door to other venues on Greenville Ave., too bad! We had a helluva victory party!!!!!!

Agreed -- that place was great. Good burger, good drinks, smaller tab than I expected, great atmosphere, etc. Certainly helps that the Ponies won! And MM65 -- you are officially insane (those who were there will concur, I'm sure.)

bagice: where was my post-victory drink, dammit?

I hope you mean that in a good way! ;) PP: You should have stuck around! bagice bought drinks, as promised!

Hoop Fan: glad Plucker's was rocking, too! However, that's a family place. The Public House was ANYTHING but a family atmosphere last night! OMG!

The Public House was great. Newcastle for $3 and the place was full of SMU fans; it was the next best thing to being in New Orlrans. This morning, I almost feel like I was in the Quarter.

Bagice, I was there after the game, but didn't get my free drink. Met tmustangp with his Lance cotton bowl shirt. It was a good night. If SMU can just figure out how how to defend the no huddle to give us fans a break we'll be OK.

I haven't been this hungover in I don't know how long! Guiness drafts and those Jaigermeister bombs (Jaigermeister + Red Bull... ) have me feeling a bit woozy this morning....and I LOVE IT! :)

IF MM65 had had his license plate, i would have introduced myself. I'll say hello one of these days.

They were on my car parked behind the Public House. ;) Actually, the license plates have been semi-retired after my presentation of one of them to coach Bennett & the team earlier this season. If there's enough demand, I'll bring one to a game. ;)

With all due respect to your father, there were a lot of "spirits" (glug, glug) in you last night. :D

Good fun there.

One of the best atmosheres for a SMU TV game I have seen since the early 80s. Sorry If I missed anyone on the free drinks, I tried to check with everyone that was left. I will get you next time!

OK,

Off to cure my hangover...for you youngsters out there, 10 Bass Drafts and 4 Jaeger bombs makes you feel kinda bad the next day......
