My thoughtsLets see where to start...
Coming out of the game, I thought SMU played very well. The first half, the 'Stangs controlled the ball for the most part until Tulane's final drive of the 1st half. Chase was looking off last night but in the 4th, thank God, came around. I still don't understand why Tulane faked that punt in the 1st quarter. Not to mention, even if he had caught the ball, he would've fallen and not gotten the first down. Anyways, as the game went on you could tell Tulane was figuring out they couldn't run the ball against us..and the final stat showed with -33 yards rushing. The only real concern for me is if teams continue to use the hurry up offense. Obviously that had a huge effect for Tulane. Wouldn't be surprised if they do that a couple times next week against Rice. Another thing, why did we run that play where the O Line stands still and a reciever goes deep with Willis rolling out? I don't mind it once...as it worked again ASU. But THREE TIMES?! In the end, I was proud of the way SMU was able to not only overcome the return to New Orleans but also overcome losing a 17-0 lead. The SMU teams of the past couple of years, would've laid down and let Tulane win (aka Marshall 05). Mark it down though. If SMU makes a bowl, we can all thank Jessie Henderson for that 100 yard kick off return that changed everything in this game. Also...hats off to the fans that made the trip. For most of the night, I was hearing the SMU fans chant louder than the Tulane fans. ![]()

Do you even watch football? Have you ever heard of this "weird" play that when the dline jumps offsides, the center snaps it to get the penalty then we take a shot downfield because we can either complete it or throw a pick and we still have the ball. Hum...we drew the offsides what a concept...get penalty yards and maybe get an even bigger play. Seriously don't post if the "game" is to complex for your simple mind.
Re: My thoughts
First play) No flag...threw it into double coverage, with it being overthrown. Second play) No flag...threw it out of bounds. Third play) Flag...threw it incomplete. Yep. Smart. ![]()
Re: My thoughts
Dude, lay off. Some people might have not realized that it was poor execution of the play. The quick snap is supposed to be done if the other team jumps; however, twice, they weren't called offsides. It looked really bad whent he penalty wasn't called. No reason to bash the other guy, he just saw no penalty called and so was wondering what was going on.
We did it 3 times in the game and got the call once...he rolls out so he can throw the ball out of bounds w/o intentional grounding if nobody separates. But, we are supposed to snap the ball on a jump..so if Poynter snapped the ball, someone jumped.
Tulane ran it one time and we jumped and got BACK, then they snapped and got the call. The refs last night were a JOKE. That fake field goal bomb to the end zone was a VERY depressing call.

DO YOU WATCH FOOTBALL? It's called a hard count. This "weird" play is used a lot, hell the Cowboys used it when Q. Carter was still here. Sir, shooting-star, sir.

yeahHum...didn't work because the refs where caught up in the tulane emotions. Looked like it worked to me because it was designed to draw the other team off, WHICH IT DID. Why would you stop running it if you keep drawing the team offsides???? The refs can't get away with it all game. If they do the league can suspend them this year...take that into note.
Your lack of punctuation and the myriad of grammatical errors lead me to believe you are truly from Birmingham, Alabama.

i like Willis, but did it look to anyone else like he was shortarming the ball last night? didnt look as good throwing to me as he did at Ford last week.
It looked to me like we got tired in the 4th quarter. We didnt run the ball very well either besides some scrambling yards by Willis. 3 in a row feels great, but the schedule looks plenty challenging to me the rest of the way. besides marshall at home, not sure we will be favored again.
Willis got up out of one of the piles in the fourth quarter holding his right wrist and seemed to be in some pain. I was surprised to see him still out there on the next play. That may have affected him a bit for awhile in the last quarter.
Re: My thoughts
I hope your argument seriously isn't that he would have "fallen down ANYWAY"..had the ball been thrown properly it would have been a TOUCHDOWN.
