One complaint on Kate's story, not sure if she was edited or not and perhaps she did write about it and it was cut BUT....

How could you not mention Tulane trying that idiotic fake punt on their own 5 yard line. That was the game changing event of the first half, it gift wrapped SMU a TD when up until that point neither offense was doing much.

Not one word about it in the paper, if you were counting on the DMN to give you a recap of the game you have an incomplete picture with that omission.

There was a huge spread that took up more of the front page than the article about the LSU-Mississippi State game!!! If the DMN covered SMU like the T-P covered Tulane last night, many on this board would be much happier.

Well for one the LSU is in Baton Rouge.

That's true, but it's no different than UT being in Austin and getting more DMN coverage. While I am sure there are more LSU alums and fans in New Orleans than there are Tulane fans, New Orleans's flagship newspaper covers the hometown team. The DMN should take a cue from the Times-Picayune's Tulane coverage on how (at a minimum) SMU should be covered.

There are 365 days in the year. Without being there I can assure you that the TP covers LSU more than Tulane. This was a very special day for Tulane that actually warranted some national coverage. Watch the rest of the season.

just a reminder about the DMN and all newspapers/media....their job is to sell newspapers, not tell the news. Once you accept this principle, the rest of the equation makes a bit more sense.

another fact is that print media is dying - we should give up the rant about DMN - we have some smart people in our community - lets get involved and ahead of the next media industry on-line.
