CONFIRMED: Willis is reinstated

From the athletic department:

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU quarterback Justin Willis has been reinstated to the SMU football team, effective October 12, Director of Athletics Steve Orsini announced today.

Willis had been suspended from the team on Friday based on information regarding his involvement in an off-campus altercation. Since then, the matter has been investigated, the University judicial process has been concluded, and Willis will abide by sanctions imposed.

"Several factors have influenced the decision to reinstate Justin,â€ Orsini said. â€œHe is remorseful and contrite and has apologized for his actions. He understands that this was not acceptable behavior, and he has been penalized. He has been truthful and cooperative with all authorities involved in gathering facts on this matter. With lessons learned, itâ€™s time to move on.â€
