I still have a big problem punishing a kid who fought back after being stalked for a year and being given no help after complaining to SMU.
This bonehead decision cost us a win at UTEP and will probably cost us the Marshall game.
Attention cheerleaders-if you are being stalked do not use mace or other items or SMU will suspend you.

why would you start a whole new thread on this subject again?
have you written to the administration to let them know how you feel? if so, good for you. you're entitled to your opinion and expressing it to the folks that are in control is the way to go.
if you haven't, then shame on you for just stirring the pot. that would fall under the 'part of the problem' category.

Actually there were 3 involved and I am still curious as to how the other was overlooked. (although pleased)

We need a blue ribbon committee headed by Ross Perot and a congressional inquiry. Simple outcomes involving common sense are just not acceptable.

Having had some personal experiences with that idiot Caswell, it doesn't surprise me that this situation was a complete and total Charlie Foxtrot. If our expectations of SMU athletics has been underwhelming, rest assured the SMU judicial process deserves much lower expectations. Due process and facts take a decided back seat to theory and dysfunctional preconceived opinions.

At least the DMN's Kevin Blackistone has moved on. Can you imagine what a field day he would have had with a "hate crime" allegation?

"Stalking" and "harrassment," though annoying, are not grounds for assault. The school was right to suspend him, although they should have wrapped the investigation up sooner to give him more practice time for the Blundering Turds.

See everybody says that, but this accusation of a hate crime was investigated by the athletic department and the student judicial group and completed and mediated and punishments handed out all inside of a week. I think you guys are over-blowing this noise about how it took to long.

With the normal pace of today's legal process, this was extremely fast. Just not as fast as some other schools have handled their problems.

SMU's rug is not as big as some other schools.

While we all wanted an immediate resolution, mrydel is right -- this DID move very quickly.
There are two families that are trying to move on and get their lives back to some level of normalcy. They want to move on, and so should we .... please.

LKP, you don't live in reality. Regardless of being stalked, his life wasn't threatened...
The law is the law, if they hadn't suspended him, he might be facing charges of aggrevated assault and battery with only a defense to the hate crime nomenclature.
By suspending him, he was punished, and there is less likelihood that charges will be brought.
Think before you type.
