Freshman noseguard, future Olympian, future SF 49er, three time probowler, Michael Carter, was sitting in his dorm window with a bb gun plinking at folks in the freshman quad? There was an uproar over that. At least Justin had a reason for his actions, by all accounts. It appears to me that the situation has been dealt with fairly. If the Meadows folks want to push the matter, and Justin's story is true, then Mr. Beard should be suspended or dealt with just as harshly. I suspect that's why this matter was settled as quickly as it was. I am willing to bet Mr. Beard was looking at punishment for his own behavior. I do not view this as a case of blaming the victim. I think our society is too sanitized. I see nothing wrong with a good fist fight to settle things every now and then, had a few myself.

YES MAMA. YES.
Seriously though, this Beard kid needs to not be able to sing for a week. Or get lockjaw. Something equal to 5 days of suspension, including a very winnable game.

The fact that he's a Meadows major is absolutely irrelevant to this whole situation. Meadows is completely uninvolved with the investigation, etc., and are not "pushing the matter" in any way.

That was before athletes were accountable....
It used to be legal to drink and drive as well (pre-1986).

Hagum's issue was a love of weed. He didn't do anything violent. He just smoked himself to indifference about life. Carter did have to go before the judiciary. Ron Meyer to a very active part Carter's case. Things were handled quickly and quietly back then.

Word around the The Quad back then was major cover up. Offically I believe we were told Michael was just a "playful boy" ...I don't remember if made the Dallas papers or not - don't think so.

All I know is that his daughters haven't come to SMU, which has to be a big disappointment for the track coach!
