It just reflects poorly on PB, himself being a DB coach at KState. They just looked flat and slow.. I was shocked at the lack of athleticism shown from our corners.
Coming into today, we had the No. 1 rushing defense, and No. 1 overall defense in Conference USA .... yet you want to ditch Coach Gush and Coach Bennett? Brilliant. Maybe Justin Willis and Emmanuel Sanders and DeMyron Martin and Bryan McCann and the rest of the young playmakers should be cut from the team, because golly, they didn't lead us to the win today. There's a reason ECU -- injuries and all -- was favored today, and it was more than just the home field. They're not USC or Ohio State, but it's not like they're without talent. How come you weren't crying for the coaches' dismissal after the win over Marshall? Or the win over Tulane? Or Sam Houston or Arkansas State? Back off.
Some of you guys just look like complete as*hats sometimes.
Tulane threw for as many yards as ECU did a few weeks ago and we won the game. They DOMINATED our secondary. Tech DOMINATED our secondary. This is the 3rd game this year with sky-high passing yrds against us...don't act like this is somehow a catalyst. It's become common by now.
In the DMN this morning PB says the defense "loaded up for the
run". ![]() Why would anybody consider running against us? I bet if we played a wishbone team, they would switch to the spread against us ![]() switched to the spread this year because we beat them last year. ![]()
what scares me is it wouldn't surprise me at all if we heard a similar quote after the Rice game. "We figured they had so much success passing out of the spread, that Rice would try to catch us off guard with the option again."
Tulane had high 300s and ECU had 408.
So, please, tell me exactly where I am wrong in my statement besides the fact they weren't both 408.
We dont play Rice next. WE PLAY UAB. so lets not jump to other opponents. Lets focus on UAB and concentrate on winning one at a time.
You start off this thread stating PB should be fired. And then later you come up with this one about taking it one at a time. Two weeks ago, you said Corey Slater should get the start and then later say in Willis we trust. With you, it appears that whichever way the wind is blowing, you are in that camp. You have convictions that change on a dime and there is no consistency with anything that you write. What is the matter with you? The only thing we do know is that you are trying set records for posts in a month. I said this to you before. Think before you write and don't write for the sake of doing it.

PB said that Slater will start that game. I NEVER ONCE SAID to leave Slater in there and keep him the starter. I said that Willis should come off the bench like he did and lead us like he did. In Willis we trust because he is the offensively leader of this team. GO BACK AND READ SOME OF MY PAST POSTS BECAUSE YOU WILL FIND CONSISTENCY. I have ALWAYS said "take it one game at a time" because that is how you play and win games. By focusing on what is at hand you can go somewhere. I dont see this team winning 6 games because of set backs like the ECU game and the UNT game. That is why I think PB should go. There is still 5 games to be played and if PB cannot get this team to a bowl, HE NEEDS TO GO. I do think before I write and I am not trying to set records for posts in a month. Sorry if you think I post for the sake of it but for someone that goes to SMU, knows the Football team, knows the coaches, and knows a lot about football, I feel that it is okay for me to post whenever I want to express my opinions. If anyone has a problem with me or my posts, just PM me...
Actually we have FOUR very winnable games. And when was the last time so many people were excited about SMU football? We have shown real promise this year and we've also shown that many of our great players (Willis, Sanders, Lowery, Givens, etc.) still have plenty of room to grow and improve. The coming years should be even more promising as they mature as football players. Keep PB, he's finally getting this program moving in the right direction. I'm not for instant gratification only to be let down the next year (i.e. UCF). I want sustained success in the years to come and that takes a lot of behind the scenes progress. Simply inserting a new head coach will not bring better players here, it will not instantly make SMU a top 25 football team. PB needs to learn just as much as the guys what works, what doesn't work, and so on. Quit reverting to the simple "fire PB and all our problems will be solved" excuse.
