Statistically, Willis does compare. Before the season's over, he very likely will have thrown more touchdowns than any quarterback in a single season, and his completion percentage might well be the best in school history. Nobody has said he'd roll over UT and Arkansas the way he has against this year's opponents, but he can only play the team that's on the other side of the field, and he's done remarkably well. We could get out on the field with no opponent at at all, and 18-of-19 is damn hard to do. Nobody is putting him on Mount Rushmore or re-naming the stadium after him just yet, but his accomplishments thus far have been pretty remarkable.

Mike Romo and Keily played with a bunch of guys who had to rely solely on heart and desire to make up for the fact that every opponent they ever faced was bigger, faster and stronger, and they still put up gaudy numbers. Their accomplishments can not be dismissed. Even Josh McCown, before he transferred, did some pretty remarkable things for SMU, and he's one of about 90 guys to pull a check as an NFL quarterback, which indicates he's got some legitimate talent, too.

And any discussion of streaks has to start and end with Cal Ripken, Jr. Now THERE's a streak that never will be broken, because nobody, in any sport, has his work ethic and understanding that it's his job to compete if physically possible.

Come on Stallion, why the bagging on Willis. Not tall enough for you. And he was pulled early in the SHSU and ASU games and he has other 3 and 4 TD games. He is currently #4 nationally in points responsible for.

My bet is that when he is done that may be an SMU record that will last for decades at least.

Funny thing about Craig James and the Top 100 players in SMU. Would he even make the list for running backs? I guess he might, because he also punted, he could make that list instead. I don't see him displacing, Walker, Rote, Dickerson or Wittington at running back. And of course Reggie Dupard put up some huge stats his senior year. Add Wayne Morris and Bob Finley into the mix. Lots of talent in our history at running back. Luckily we've had some forgetable linemen.

I hope it stands, but James' record is the most likely to be broken (of the three mentioned).

As for what other records may never be broken...Champ Dickerson's 32 tackles in a single game? Ford's 7 INTs in a single game? LeVias" 213 single game receiving yds?

it know Putt Choate that had 30+ tackles against Arkansas in the final Cotton Bowl game.. Are you sure Dickerson had 32-you got a game or date.
